Was Wayne Gretzky pretty clean in terms of not living the terrible athlete life we've come to see so much? After the truth about MJ came out, I figured the only sports legend to not live a crappy life was The Great One.

MJ cheated too...and had kids but ESPN will SWEAR on a stack of bibles MJ is the greatest human being to ever live.

That one white chick said she had an affair with MJ, but could never prove it.

I believe the court thought she was trying to extort money from him.

Yeah, Gretzky is squeaky clean. There is his friendship with Bruce McNall but I think Wayne was just conned by him like everyone else.

There were also the Oiler glory days where about 5-7 members of the team were rumoured to be big cocaine fiends. Wayne's name was never mentioned in this bunch. However buddies Mark Messier, Grant Fuhr, Kevin Lowe and Dave Semenko were all rumoured to be a part of this crew.

Then again, as we are approaching the 15th anniversary of "The Trade" there was the time that Wayne told Mess that he would never waive his no trade clause and leave the Oil and then proceeded to do it.

David Robinson is the ultimate good guy.

1. Navy service, hense is a patriot.

2. Religious

3. Paid for a school and gives scholarships to community

MJ has too many sins to speak of.

OMG Michael Jordan is not without sin? Whatever will we do? All this bashing athletes for not being perfect needs to cease.

To paraphrase Bill Maher on On The Record, you marry a so-so looking boring guy, then you'll have a guy who will never cheat on you. But if you marry a good looking, charismatic guy then you know what you signed up for. He's gonna have a wandering eye, if not other body parts. And this is with just REGULAR guys. I can't even imagine being a superfamous and uberrich professional athlete. Give the poor guys a break.

Nascar doesn't have any Jordan/Kobe/Tysons...

Unless you count Kevin Harvick's hobby of Punching out other drivers...

Posted

Oh please, they take care of things in house.... what about Jeff Gordon's soon-to-be-ex wife alleging that he wasn't faithful?

You hardly hear about Nascar because they are like the Southern family: something bad happens, you handle it within the family and YOU DON'T TALK ABOUT IT.

We put these people on pedestals because they can do something much better than we can. At some point they stop being human, and we define them by their ability and attach our own morals to them, so when they fall off that pedestal (and they will), we are ready to vilify them for DARING to be human.

Its just sad.

Oh I know...I was raised in Nascar I know this shit man...

Oh Yeah Gordan is EQUAL to Kobe here...

Vannessa Bryant just isnt a bitch like Brooke.

I agree that the Admiral is the ultimate good guy but what does being religious have anything to do with being good? Priests are religious and many of them have been uncovered as child molesters.

Jordan has quite the reputation for cheating, actually. My former roommate, whose cousin played in the NBA, said MJ's nickname among players was Spiderman for an incident where Mike climbed down the wall of a hotel to avoid his wife, who was about to catch him in a room with 2 girls.

I think that the whole Kobe and MJ thing just proves that nothing you see about celebrities can be belived. If It comes out tomorrow that Wayne and David Robinson went on a killing spree in the 80's and that it got covered up, I won't be suprised. I mean really. You had Michael Jordan, Bo Jackson, and Wayne in that damn cartoon and two of the three have proven to not be the greatest of guys. MY EYE IS ON YOU WAYNE!

And how can anyone trust a guy that STILL had a high top fade well into the late 90's. I don't trust Steve Harvey, I don't trust Patrick Ewing, and I don't trust David Robinson...Hell, Kid knew when to let it go. And David was REAL defensive of his little flower garden when he was playing one on one with Tim Duncan in those old Shaving Creme commercials....Whats buried in the garden DAVID????

That's the problem. Kobe grew up watching Pro Stars on NBC and decided to take after his hero. He should just take the Deion Sanders approach and say that jesus told him to cheat on his wife and allegedly rape a woman.

No...He grew up watching his Father do the same act he just did (cheating)...He saw it happening when it was more Open...

Don't Blame NBC and MJ completetly here

Come on Choken...You know it, I know it...the whole damn world knows it. Pro Stars was the beganning of the fall of civilization as we knew it. Nothing good could come of Michael Jordan jumping 50 feet in the air in slo mo so he could slam dunk a metallic basketball on the head of robots. NOTHING. Or Wayne Gretsky hitting smart pucks at them. Or Bo Jackson just hitting them with a bat. NOTHING.

Remember, Kobe idolizes Jordan. He even walks and talks like him. Since Kobe was raised around NBA guys he might have learned of MJ's cheating reputation when he was younger, or he at least learned about it when he got to the League at age 17-18. So if Kobe's idol cheats, why wouldn't he?

The issue of rape is strictly a he said/she said thing, unfortunately. And in most cases, if the "he" is someone of Kobe's social status and the "she" has any type of questionable behavior in her past, the guy will win. I remember an episode of The Practice where this girl was raped by a rabbi. He got off because Eugene was able to argue about how the girl had always made a big deal about wanting to be rich.

If I can be serious for a moment, Kobe cheated because Kobe wanted to cheat. not because Michael Jordan or Jellybean Bryant did, because he wanted to.

Of course he's his own man and he cheated because he wanted to fuck somebody. I'm just saying people often emulate or try to emulate their role models, whether they be positive or negative role models. Also, a lot of people -- be it conciously or not -- follow the same patterns as people they grew up idolizing.

Well, when he starts blowing up robots with Michael Vick, Barry Bonds and [insert big Hockey name here] I'll agree with you. Until then, I put it on him...

Besides, he didn't know that Mike was cheating back then...nobody did but Mike, some prostitutes and probably Mrs. Jordan...and STERN who would have the prostitutes killed so they couldn't go to the press and destroy the cash cow.

I'm not talking about the 80s, I'm talking about the 2000s. When Kobe came into the League, everyone knew about Jordan cheating (the media just never said anything about it). This has nothing to do with Pro Stars.
