All right...

Last Night My Electric went out (nothing new as we've been hit with Storms all summer) and I casually went and turned it back on...

Upon restarting the CPU..The screen came up and it just stayed there just a Blank LOA Wallpaper...I panicked and hit for the Windows Task manager and saw that I could just go OPEN Task and open AOL so I didn't think much of it.

I went the whole day just like that since I was told on another thread that it shouldn't do any damage if it's just The Desktop ICONS disappeared...

I decided to call my one and only techie friend but he will be gone for a week so I went "Meh fuck it"...

I have Imesh and I was able to DL some songs...So I go to play it on jukebox but then the thing won't even load up and it says

"There is a problem with the skin you are using...something...The activex controls are not registered"...

I go to try Windows MP and it says "An Internal Appliction has occured" and that don't work Either...

I can see my files still exist because I can go to File Manager at Imesh but I can't play any video or audio...

WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED?

If you have no start button, In the Windows Task Manager bring up the New Task(Run) command and type

"C:\Windows\Explorer.exe"

(Include the quotes, you can copy and paste it there.) That should solve your no desktop icon files problem.

Try just typing "explorer" without the quotes then.

Looks like you should backup your important files and do a complete new install of Windows. A power outage CAN fuck up your system. But before you do anything like that, try to run Scandisk with surface check to make sure that your hard drives are OK.

Or even better, wait until you can get a computer expert to check the system for you. Remote analysis over an internet message board is not a good way to do that.

Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Scandisk

or just type in Scandisk using the Run command
