Guest HVilleThugg Report post Posted July 22, 2003 It's a sad, sad day in the SWF when a retired guy who hasn't read a single show in months and hardly ever posts on anything SWF show related, has to start your comments thread. Let's go bitches...comment! Anyway...Crow vs. Janus...best of 5! Hmmmm...sounds familiar...and I think the old heads will know what i'm talking about... It looks an awful lot like the Robert Steele saga...I forget that other dude's name, but they were Molock and Angelous's new characters. They did this exact same thing. Not to take anything away...Crow vs. Janus should be good, and it's a different way to set up and get over a PPV match between the two. Crow, just remember, kicking in the nuts is not a bitch move if the person is over 6'7". Anyway...good show...not great...but good. Seems like a number of people with the higher profile matches were shorter than I would have liked to seee them, but then again, i skimmed, so I could be mistaken....either that or all the crack I smoked this morning is hittin' me pretty hard. Anyway... ...yeah.... ....and stuff. Da "comment you bitches...COMMENT" H
Guest Mr. Slim Citrus Report post Posted July 22, 2003 Some foreign guys win a tag title shot, Maori turns up and kicks ass, Ejiro becomes the 876th person to beat Craven for the US Title, Janus and Crow do their best to try and upstage everybody, Frost is still Party, something... uhh... happened in the ICTV contender's match, and Taamo gets his groove back in a match that seems unusually short. And, oh yeah, I finally broke my losing streak. Go Me!

Guest kelloggs Report post Posted July 23, 2003 I'm just going to comment on the promos for now and come back latter after re-reading the matches to give comments on those. The opening promo was nice and all I can says is, well, I was surprised to say the least, when Crowe came out forthe opening promo. Best of five is an interesting concept in theory and makes sense in context. You guys do a nice job of setting it up, but unless people know about your JL feud, they have no reason to get behind it. Maybe a couple of promo's going over past history and hints about it, will make it flow better. Pete's mid show promo was very quick, so I don't have much to say about it. Maybe if you gave more of a reason to why Pete figured they didn't need to wait, it would have been easier to get into it. Ejiro/Wildchild was a very good promo that played of the situation well. This really would have fit if Wildchild lost and Ejiro won, but both of them winning can be worked with too. Not much to say except that some WF, much like Crowe/Janus might not know the particulars of your JL feud, so it would be a good idea to gloss over it. One of the things I enjoyed about this show is how many of the promo's tied together. In particular, the Quiz to Flesher stuff, which was so over the top goofy into serious, that it really caught my attention and Beezel/Atlas, which I'll get to in a moment. JD on Flesher was very quick and to the point. Some sharp barbs at Flesher, which were well though out and played a definite part in the backstage beatdown and match. Quiz's promo and arrival into the WF was handled well... so all we need now, is the other half of "Double Jeparody" whomever that may be... not that we all don't already know that. The pearl harbor after the contract signing was very good, but to be honest no backstage beatdown will ever rival Pete writing the M7's "The fall of Ash Ketchum". Beatdowns don't have that much drama, unless you build a story around it, which you tried to do with your Board and show promo setting it up, but something was missing and it made what could have been a great emotional confrontation into a beatdown. I wish I could say what it was that was missing, but honestly I can't. Maybe it was surprise, because I was expecting this and not the other mentioned one, which was written so over the top, in bond esque Chris Wilson fashion. Still it was a great continuous story. I particularly liked the way that the Stryke/Kibagami/Atlas/Beezel promo played out. Promo of the show in my opinion. It included everyone from the match, and lead to a point, which is the confrontation between, Atlas and Beezel. With Atlas, I've always gotten the sense that his character is about mind games, and what character is more about mind games than Beezel. Atlas causing Beezel to be insecure about the consept of "indentity", even if he doesn't really know anything, is a great flip, because that's always Beezel's main advantage. We don't know who Beezel is and therefore can't gauge how to fight. I'd easily call this the best promo of the show and whoever wrote it sound be quite proud, of the little things that they incorperated into
Guest Ace309 Report post Posted July 23, 2003 All in all a very nice show. I was particularly impressed with Ejiro's win over Craven, especially the botched SSP. Wildchild's win was also duly impressive, and Frost beating Sacred shows once again what an excellent writer he is. Excellent stuff all around, with the exception of Silent's match and mine. I'm so lazy that I didn't want to write a full match to win by no-show, so I cooked up a three-promo angle to deal with it. I'm not only lazy, I'm inefficient. Guest kelloggs Report post Posted July 23, 2003 Tom, I think it would have worked, if you'd been a bit more subtle. I just knew you were going to beat him down, after the first promo had no response. Like I said earlier I don't know exactly what you could have changed, but something was missing from making that into a completely compelling angle.
