TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2004 And on that note, a good point for Derby at West Ham yesterday, a step closer to safety, BIG game tomorrow at home to Bradford...
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2004 Derby vs Bradford today, anything less than a win, i'll throw my season ticket on the pitch directed at our worst player this afternoon.
monkey 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2004 Well Ipswich look like there are going to beat Sunderland which should keep us in the playoffs. It is far to tight in the top ten for my liking. Anyway looks like Derby won so you keep your season ticket.
Anorak 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2004 How's Matt Elliott doing on loan? Have you seen him play? Wolves look absolute certs for relegation after losing to Bolton, massive win for Pompey. Derby's win means they just might be around to give Leicester 6 points next season . Man Utd away tomorrow night, god knows what the final score in that one is going to be. TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2004 What a goal from Leon Osman, beat a man, came inside another, beat a third, ran 20 yards and lobbed the keeper from 30 yards. Goal of the month certainty.
Guest frowned Report post Posted April 14, 2004 good to see that the mighty Yellow and Green army are maintaining the pace, looks like IPSWICH (wtf?!) guaranteed promotion for us with their win over Sunderland. I predict big things for Robert Green next season, already been in the England squad once this season and I see him going to a big club at some point and as long as he maintains this season's form could push for a semi-regular England place. As a City fan it bothers me a little, but as someone I kinda went to school with (ok, he was like 3 years above me and we've never met, but bollocks to that - I can identify with him waaaaay better than someone like Huckerby) it's excellent news and it's always going to happen at some point unless we make the big league transition incredibly well (which probably is not going to happen). TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2004 Derby/Preston this weekend, if results go our way, we'll be out of the relegation zone - and they could easily do so
Guest jpclemmons Report post Posted April 14, 2004 Newcastle made it to the semis of the UEFA cup after a cracker against PSV making it two English clubs reaching the semi-finals in Europe. But a Celtic loss ruined my hopes for an all Briton final.

Anorak 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2004 Valencia should win the UEFA Cup, although playing another Spanish side will be difficult for them. I can't bring myself to cheer for Newcastle as long as Alan Shearer is playing.

deancoles 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2004 Leeds were absolutely killed by Arsenal, Pennant looked like he couldn't be bothered for obvious reasons. The tension is getting unbearable at the Gate, 1 point behind QPR in 2nd place with 4 games left and if Plymouth play like they did at our place on Wednesday(crap) then maybe the Title Race is still open. BTW, when the Fixtures for Next season are announced I'll make a "One and Only 04/05 Soccer Season Thread".
Anorak 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2004 Valencia should win the UEFA Cup, although playing another Spanish side will be difficult for them. I can't bring myself to cheer for Newcastle as long as Alan Shearer is playing. Get over it, Neil Lennon did. I'd have the same opinion of him if that never happened actually, as would anyone who isn't an armchair Newcastle fan or a geordie. Don't know why the dumb fuck didn't move to Man Utd when he had the chance, not only would he have had winners medals coming out of his ears but his whiny petulant act towards officials would have made even Roy Keane and Gary Neville blush. Shearer would have pushed them both aside every week (probably with an his elbow) to get in the ref's face first. Ruud Gullitt was was right about him the other week. Pompey are leading Man Utd 1-0 at half-time, if they hold on to that and Blackburn beat Leicester then Leeds are in big trouble to avoid finishing 18th. caboose 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2004 The man is still the greatest, and I'll say that with conviction, English striker alive today. Yes he is and was better than Linekar and Greaves. If you can't respect the man, respect his achievments. But if I'm being honest however, he was not allowed to move to Man Utd by Jack Walker, rather than him choosing to move to Newcastle. Derby 5 Preston 1 - Thats a hell of a result, we still aren't safe, but our goal difference looks a bit healthier and the Rams are at least out of the relegation zone. Liverpool drawing is good for Newcastle's 4th spot chase too. If the Toon acn beat Villa tomorrow, then they'll be favourites for 4th, and the smile across my face will be even bigger... Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2004 Damn, if Forest hadnt conceded with 5 mins to go we would have been virtually safe. Still a couple more points from the last 3 games should be enough. I'd say Derby will stay up too, and Walsall will take the drop.

If you can't respect the man, respect his achievments. Lineker did the buisness at two world cups and outside of England in a superior foreign league. Greaves was the best natural goalscorer in England's history and his record speaks for itself. I respect Shearer, he was one of the top few strikers in Europe during his peak but he's not the best we've ever had.

Pompey deserve to stay up and i hope they do, Leicester might just might help drag Man City down with them next week but i still hope Leeds take the drop instead. Guest frowned Report post Posted April 19, 2004 as long as it's not Div 1 exclusive (or at least implied in topic title) - you can safely return it to Div 1 status again the following season however (what with my ultra-high confidence in the Canaries and all).
