Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted July 22, 2003 Report Posted July 22, 2003 EDIT: F***! I could have swore I put 2 D's in the Title, I can't change it. P-Diddy wanna buy The Knicks Posted on Tuesday, July 22 Sean "P. Diddy" Combs wants to purchase the New York Knicks. The hip-hop/fashion mogul and devout fan of Gotham's National Basketball Association (NBA) franchise proclaimed his interest during an appearance this morning on Howard Stern's syndicated morning radio show. "I think I could do a good job," Combs said, admitting that his efforts to engage in talks with the team's current ownership have to this point been fruitless. "I'm publicly puttin' it out there, because they're not taking my calls. "I think [they need] some new blood up in there... I'm not saying let's get rid of the owners, I'm saying put me down. Put me in the game... Because it's not going down right now." His desire stems from the team's poor performance over the past several years. The Knicks finished the 2002-2003 season with a losing record. "I wanna make sure we [are] gonna win," Combs said. During the interview, Combs criticized the team's personnel decisions. "We're making rush decisions," he said. "I think we need a team that also reflects the spirit of the city. We need an aggressive, fast team that knows how to run." When contacted, a representative for the Knicks had no comment on Combs' comments. Combs also used the interview to plug the "Bad Boys II" soundtrack, issued last week as the first release on his reactivated Bad Boy Records label. As previously reported, the set boasts songs by Combs, 50 Cent, Nelly, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Will Smith, one of the film's co-stars. "Bad Boys II" was the No. 1 film in the U.S. over the weekend, taking in $46.5 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Most of you probably hate the idea, but I like it. I think he can help. Him being a true sports fan and a true New Yorker, he can easily tell that the organization is making the wrong decisions. Example: Mark Cuban.
Guest Flyboy Posted July 22, 2003 Report Posted July 22, 2003 If Diddy did his trademark spinning dance in the middle of the court during every home game, I would give him funds to buy the Knicks.
Guest Lethargic Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 What if Spike Lee and P Diddy put their money together and bought the team? Wow, talk about the inmates running the asylum.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 That's not the inmates running the asylum because P Diddy and Spike Lee have no affiliation with the Knicks. This article is pure garbage. I don't think that he has the money to buy the Knicks and it was just him talking shit on the Howard Stern show.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 I don't hate the idea -- I just hate Spike Lee. Although the stories that would spawn from behind the scenes would easily top any on-the-court product in terms of entertainment...

This article is pure garbage. I don't think that he has the money to buy the Knicks and it was just him talking shit on the Howard Stern show. It'd be inmates running the asylum because it's two crazy ass fans who think that could run the team better than the professionals. It'd be no different of any of us were put in control of the Knicks. We might be great arm chair GMs and think we know something but we don't know shit. If Puff Daddy tried to run the Knicks, they'd still be screwed up they'd just be screwed up by somebody else. Hell, Master P would probably be the starting point.
Guest Choken One Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Sean Combs is WONDERFUL Business Man. You may not like his music (I am not a big fan) but you have give credit where credit is due, All of his business have done GREAT (Bad Boy, Sean Jean) and has good business Acumen... He has a straight Up attitude and the players would respect him...

As I said before, Being a sports fan and a true New Yorker, he can easily tell that the organization is making the wrong decisions. He'd do a hell of a lot better than Scott Layden. As said before, he is a also an excellent Business Man. He'd be what Pat Croce was in Philly, and what Mark Cuban is now in Dallas. Saying Master P would be the the starting point guard? Stupid. Also, you really don't believe Puffy has enough money to buy the Knicks ? You are crazy.
Guest Lethargic Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 A lot of people are owners that don't have enough money to buy a team. But he could easily put a group of investors together that he would be the head of which is how a lot of sports teams are bought. But no, I don't think he's really doing this. He's just saying crap on a radio show. Like I said, he's just like any fan. We all like to sit around and say, wow, if that was me I'd do it soooo much better. The Master P thing was a joke. I assumed that would be pretty friggin obvious, guess not. Good thing I didn't use my other one of handguns would become common place in the locker room and every player would be given his own man servant named Farnsworth.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 I apologize to you, Lethargic... for blowing up like that.
Agent_Bond34 Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 If P Diddy buying the Knicks means the Knicks will suck for a lot longer, then I'm all for it.
Guest Choken One Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Actually...The Knicks would be better in my opinion under Sean Comb's Orders.
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 he would make Alan Houston walk to Brooklyn to buy him a cheesecake.
Guest ant_7000 Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 That would be something if Puff did run the Knicks. He could have his label mates perform during timeouts and at halftime. He could sign Master P and P could be a combo guard since he's like 6'4. Each player would have their own personal man servant or aspiring rapper and send them to get cheesecake.
Guest shlidgn90 Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 i think it would work because since hes a music mogul. he could sign free agents and give them an recording contract. b-ball players love rap music after all.
Guest Choken One Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 he also has a Fashion line...So maybe he can fix up those jerzees.
Guest Ripper Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 i think it would work because since hes a music mogul. he could sign free agents and give them an recording contract. b-ball players love rap music after all. OHHHHH!!!! Wait...how come all Basketball players have to like rap...hmmm? you ~Basketball player-ist
Guest Choken One Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 I'd Love to walk into a Blazers locker room and play Alan Jackson just for the sheer hell of it.
Guest shlidgn90 Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 all b-ball players love rap music because they are young and hip. not because they are black(like i am).
Guest Ripper Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 all b-ball players love rap music because they are young and hip. not because they are black(like i am). We really need to talk about you catching saracasm and jokes on the board. REALLY.
Guest Choken One Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 He is right...Look at Mark Madsen. LOOK AT HIM! DAMN IT! Also...WAY out of context...but doesn't Luke Walton remind you of Randy Orton?
Guest Ripper Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 I just caught a vison of John Stockton, Mark Madsen, Chris Dudley and Luke Walton sitting in a room bobing their head to Wu-tang cause they are so young and hip.
