Can someone help me with IRC?

I'm looking for some ROH on IRC, since I was told there was a bunch on it, and I'm not exactly sure how to get files once I get into a room. If anyone can help it'd be appreciated.

usually someone has a server with a trigger, like:

 

ring of honor rules!!!

 

or:

 

/ctcp UserX Ring of Honor rules!!!

 

Once you type that, a window will pop up saying either that UserX wishes to DCC Chat with you, or UserX wishes to send you a text file of the files he has. Accept it.

 

if its a text file with a list, you can copy the text line of the file that you want, such as:

 

!User X Low-ki vs. Jody Fleisch.avi

 

then you paste it in channel, and you are either sent the list or are put into a queue, depending if there are people downloading from UserX at the time.

 

Now if it is a DCC Chat its a little more complicated. When you accept the chat a chat window will come up, usually with a list of commands. There should be a help command with it, but if not, I'll walk you through it.

 

The commands are DOS-based, which are fairly simple and straightforward. the first thing you should type is DIR, which will pull of a directory of files or folders. in the case of there being folders, it would look something like this:

 

Low-Ki

Amazing Red

Jody Fleisch

Christopher Daniels

 

say you want to access the Low-Ki folder you would type in the following command:

 

cd Low-Ki

 

which would take you to the Low-ki folder. type dir again to show what is in the folder, which would look something like this:

 

Low-ki vs. Christopher Daniels.avi 4503912b

 

from this point you would type:

 

get Low-ki vs. Christopher Daniels.avi

 

and again depending if there are people in front of you, you will put into a queue. The server would tell you where you are in the queue.

 

You will have to type these command rather fast as most people serving these days have a time limit on how long you can be there, so get in, find what you want, and get out, by closing the chat window or typing exit.

I just started getting on IRC and I have a question. I was in one room trying to request stuff by following the tips on this page. However after I was in the chat room after requesting it gave me a listing of commands that are different than the ones posted here. I couldn't type in dir to check the directory b/c it was an invalid command but they had commands like : .help, .findep, .findseries, etc. I would type those to try and get into the folders but then from there I got stuck. Anyone knows how to work with rooms dealing with these commands? I need help, I'm fairly new to this.

 

Also does anyone know of any good rooms for wrestling stuff and tv show stuff. You can PM me this info.
