Guest Morality Check Report post Posted July 24, 2003 The following is just my opinion... Pro sports players, entertainers of all kinds, [bands, wrestlers, ect.] they all get paid a fuckload of money. Some get paid a lot of money. We're talking... way too much money. People like... oh, Tiger Woods. The man gets paid for playing golf. Fair enough, whatever. Then, he gets paid for simply wearing Nike clothes on television. The people who made the shit don't get paid half of what he gets paid simply to wear it. And a lot of times it's made in Third-World Country's by little kids who work fourteen hour shifts and get paid ike, a dollar an hour. While entertainers bust their ass, like it or not, [bands, wrestlers, entertainers do A LOT of traveling, and they're away from their familes and friends and everything. I mean, wrestlers alone -- all year round, that's fucking hard. Not to mention all the training that goes in. And most bands have to go years before they get a big break. And when they do, going on tour may see mall great -- but it can take a lot out of a person.] Anyway, so while they do bust their asses, do they deservse as much money as they get? To live in HUGE houses with fourty-three rooms and nine bathrooms, where somtimes only two people live there? I live in a house with six people. Our house is so damn small. We have one bathroom, and maybe six rooms. I have to share a room with my brother, and my twins brothers have to share a room. We're behind on bills. Ect., ect. And I couldn't even begin to guess at how much money one person who is famous has. Why the fuck do people need so much money? What the hell do these people spend it on? The guys from Friends... getting a million dollars per episode -- what do they do with like, ten million dollars? Why do we let one perosn have that amount of money, while children and adults die every day all over the World due to starvation? I don't want to get all the Americans on my ass, and trust me... I'm not anti-American, not even close. But... if we took all the money Bush has spent on bombs, how much food do you think we could buy with those millions or billions of dollars? Entertainment... it's a job to entertain, too. I'm not saying it's anymore hard than being a laywer or working in an office, or anything. But fuck, why do they get paid so much? The money could be used in so many other ways, that would actually help the World become a better place. We have to start giving a fuck about our fellow humans, rather than let them die. - Marc
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2003 That will not happen until we evolve enough as human being to where material possessions don;t mean as much, where making a boatload of money isn't the only way to freedom... and a desire to be known and revered by other for throwing or hitting a baseball, shooting a basketball, etc. does burn as hot inside us as a race of beings. I have been resigned to the fact that it is not going to happen in my lifetime, or my children's, or my children's children's. If anything, we are not so much coming together as a people as we are being forced in roughly the same direction. its like Khan Noonian Singh said in Star Trek: Oh the technology is more advanced, but how little man himself has changed. Sad but true.

Guest godthedog Report post Posted July 24, 2003 they get paid so much because they make the studios so much money. jim carrey gets $20 million plus for a movie because his presence in that movie makes $100 million plus. same thing with the cast of 'friends', julia roberts, and so on ad infinitum. no movie studio in the world would ever make a contract that says, "because you make us so much money, we'll give you $50,000 for your part and give the rest of your $20 million fee to feed the hungry children of iraq." you wanna complain about starving people, complain to the people who decide what to do with their money, not to the people who pay them. if the homeless people want a piece of the action, they need to start their own entertainment industry. Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 24, 2003 Life is a business. If people pay to watch someone put a ball in a hole then the person doing it should get a fair share of the money. People say basketball players are paid too much. So should we cut their salaries so that the owners can take in a extra 45-50 million per year...because we know they need it. The point of business is to make money and giving the money to homeless people(basically for being homeless) doesn't make sense.
Guest kingkamala Report post Posted July 24, 2003 if the homeless people want a piece of the action, they need to start their own entertainment industry. Hell I'd put down $8 to see a movie featuring all homeless people. Put a camera in front of them, promise them some sandwiches if they finish, give them 90 minutes and voila.....a movie much better than From Justin to Kelly and other such Hollywood tripe.
