Guest Goose749 Report post Posted July 28, 2003 How was the turnout at Hooters? Was it wicked crowded? I was going to head into the city, but figured between the PPV and the Sox game that Hooters would just be painfully crowded so didn't make the trip in. It wasn't too full. First time I've ever seen open tables in the WWE corner. It's packed for wrestlemania, and a little full for big ppvs. Good times, specially last night (afterwards staying to watch last 2 innings. quality) Why Hooters Boston is the ideal place for WWE viewing: 1. WWE corner, complete with our own set of chants 2. Watch PPV and the Sox at the same time 3. Hot wings (have to spend a minimum $10 per person) 4. Watch the show while being served by Hooters girls 5. Some middle-aged drunk guy hitting on a young waitress, telling her he's George of the Jungle So come on in for Summerslam. <- Soon to be the new spokesman for Hooters
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted July 28, 2003 My friends and I all thought it was hilarious. One of the better commercials they have produced. Great stuff.

Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted July 28, 2003 SF is getting it's own Hooters eventually. I live way too many miles away to go there though. Also, nobody is expecting the Hooters to actually survive since everyone in SF is either pretentious rich types, health food nuts, or gay, and Hooters pretty much ignores those markets. Having so many ____ball teams around here though, there's no way any of the regular bars try a wrestling show.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted July 28, 2003 I liked it because it was funny. I just love the concept of Lesnar F5ing a shark. The comedic value reminds me of the RR 2003 commercial with Kurt.

Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted July 29, 2003 Anybody remember WHEN they showed the SS commercial on Vengeance? I forgot. after tag match or women's match... I think... crap Tag title match. I know this because the ending of that match was the only part of the PPV I managed to catch, and the commercial immediately followed.

Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted July 29, 2003 Mr. Lesnar? Who's there? Kurt Angle. You don't sound like Kurt. It's Mr. America. No it's not! He went home. You're that clever land shark, aren't you. I'm only a dolphin, Brock. Oh in that case, th--AHHH!

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted July 29, 2003 Oh for crying out loud... You can't say you hate something if you haven't seen the damn thing... It's funny and gets people's attention... "Hey Man you see that Wrestling commerical with the Shark?" "Yeah! That was funny" Better then... "WATCH SUMMERSLAM! BONE CRUNCHING SOUL BASHING HELL RASING MADNESS!" that we used to see... You forget RRR hates everything and anything WWE-related, and does not even bother giving anything a chance based on his history with it, and serves only the purpose of loathing, for he does not know what is like, I guess, ever again to be positive about WWE. And thus serves no purpose on this board. Next.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted July 29, 2003 What was the RR commercial with Angle again? Yeah this one was hilarious. It was even funnier b/c me and my friends made this joke one time that when Lesnar gets stuck in traffic he just leaps out of his car and starts F-5ing cars while Cole and Tazz sit in the back seat yelling about it. Tazz: He just threw that Metro like it was nothing! Oh no! He's going for that 18-wheeler! Cole: Folks you really have to be here to believe how big this 18-wheeler is! TV doesn't do it justice! F5!!!!F5!!! Anyways this commericial just confirmed our beliefs that Brock F5's anything in his way.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted July 29, 2003 (edited) I video captured the scene and uploaded it to my website as a .gif Well, if you want to get technical, the other webmaster to our site did the capping... It's funny. http://www.yahmean.com/images/anvil/sharkf5.gif We also put up the infamous "La Parka cutter" by DDP to Savage on Nitro and a brutal DDT by Barry Windham on Dustin Rhodes during "Battle Bowl" at Starrcade '92. Just messing around with new toys. Edited July 29, 2003 by Mr. Jag0

Guest Adrian 3:16 Report post Posted July 29, 2003 Sure, people enjoy them, but does it make them want to buy the PPV? Does any commercial? I don't know about you but every PPV I've ever bought has been based on the card, not the commercial. Why does it need to get peoples attention? Is Summerslam some mysterious event that the masses of wrestling fans need to know about??? Your first question- that's the whole point of commericals. Your second- no, of course not. Which is why it doesn't it need to show VIOLENCE BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS either. Everyone knows you're paying for wrestling matches when you buy Summerslam, you don't need the commercial to beat it over your head.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted July 30, 2003 Does any commercial? I don't know about you but every PPV I've ever bought has been based on the card, not the commercial. So why can't they advertise the card in their commercials? The whole point of commercials is to SELL something. Some commercials can sell a wrestler (Kurt Angle for Vengeance), the "Epicness" of Wrestlemania, hell Bad Blood was trying to sell HHH vs. Goldberg. I don't see what's being sold here.. Unless they are having Brock vs. a Shark. Which I doubt is happening. These stupid comedy commercials sell nothing. They don't enhance the show in any way, nor do they make it look appealing at all... In fact, it's not even centered around the show _at all_. How can the crowd buy when the WWE isn't selling? Your first question- that's the whole point of commericals. For companies looking for attention, not companies that already HAVE it. Once you have attention you have to DO something with it... What's being done here? Your second- no, of course not. Which is why it doesn't it need to show VIOLENCE BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS either. So rather than trying to sell the sacrifice and hard work of the wrestlers to try and build appreciation, or maybe build drama around an event and give it an epic feel, let's sell a Jaws-spoof! YEAH! Comedy sells PPVs! YEAH! Err... wait... no... no it doesn't. Comedy just sells T-shirts. *note to self* When looking for someone to spearhead a mass marketing promotion, don't hire Adrian Everyone knows you're paying for wrestling matches when you buy Summerslam, you don't need the commercial to beat it over your head. You are totally right. Selling Wrestling for Wrestling is just stupid. Sell Jaws. Sell Whacky Skits that have nothing to do with the show. Silly me for thinking such Silly Ideas. RRR, they could have McMahon and Satan having a tea party for a commercial, and it would still sell. The commercials for the PPV are just to tell you when the date is, in my own opinion. Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted July 30, 2003 Ok, so why not have the date mentioned again, and again, and again, and again, and again? ...Rather than once. THOSE (comedy) types of commercials is just Vince "makin movies".

THOSE (comedy) types of commercials is just Vince "makin movies". The comedy commercials are to offset the serious ones that involve the matches. Like the ones we saw for Steph/Sable, Gowen/McMahon, and the 3 Way Main Event for Vengeance.
