Guest kelloggs Report post Posted July 29, 2003 Sometimes I have to wonder, If these things I do... These things I do, are worth it. In memory of one. To the future with another. For the highest ideal. And the sacrifices we make... "The Bloody War" Mak Francis sits in the locker room, with CIA next to him. They’re chatting about something, probably, how to handle their matches tonight, which will both be hard fought contests. Being able to talk strategy is a key concept for improvement and that’s why International Incident does it together. For teamwork and the fact that it’s an easy way to pass time. Francis’ eyes dart to the cell phone on the table, and then he looks away, causing CIA to change the direction of the conversation. The ‘Dream’ cracks a joke, forcing Mak to just shake his head and laugh, while he picks up his cell phone and rises to leave the room. “I’ll be back in a second, I have to—” “Oh Marie, I must call you at least five times a day. I love you Marie, but I’m afraid that if CIA hears us, he’ll retch at the endless, and I mean endless, times that I declare my love for you.” Francis coughs, and continues on his way. “Of course he could steal you away with his unmatched charisma and charm at any time he wanted, if he was so inclined, but if I never get off the phone with you, he won’t have that chance!” Mak rolls his eyes, while he walks, waving a hand dismissing CIA. The telephone rings’ once, twice, three time… a fourth and finally time, while Francis attempts, and fails to explain his relationship with the girl. “It’s not like that. I just haven’t talked to her in a week…” The older member of International Incident starts winging ridiculous lyrics to “young love” or “puppy love” or “My endless love”, interspeed fits of laughter. “Damn man, it’s not like that,” CIA gives him the look and he crumbles under the pressure. “Besides, we haven’t had much time to get together. We’ve been in Philly two times, so we got to go clubbing a little, but I’d doubt she’d give—” Then the answering machine beeps. “…me any—SHIT!” The laughter of his tag partner in the background slowly fades, as Mak jogs away with a sour expression on his face. “Uh, hey Marie, this is Mak—uh—I just got to the arena… I guess, yeah—I’ll hit you up later. I was just calling to talk… but you’re not in so, peace. ” “Wait,” shouts Marie Rodriguez, as she picks up the phone, dashing into her dorm suite, just getting back. Her roommate looks up from watching soap operas, and laughs at the fuss she’s making. “Mak, Mak? You still—” “Yeah, I’m still here.” “Hold on a sec.” Marie covers the phone, but doesn’t do a good job, as Mak can here the conversation. “Why didn’t you answer the phone. And don’t say it’s because you thought he’d profess his 'undying' love to me on the tape, like last time… you're just lazy... oh, it’s that soap.” The two girls stare at the television, as Laslow tell some girl another outlandish plot twist, that had you not seen it in the last scene, you wouldn't believe it took place. “Damn that Laslow!” they both say, as Marie kinda’ remembers someone’s on the line. “So, what’s the problem, huh?” “I have an ICTV defense this show—“ “You’ve been asking that King guy for defenses, since you got the belt! That’s great!” The voice on the other end doesn’t respond, but the eerie quiet, sends across an emotion, causing Marie to question her first reaction. ”…right?” “Well, it is and isn’t.” Mak pauses for a second and just as Marie is about to question his cryptic response, he starts again. “It’s Nathan Kibagami. I don’t really know how to approach this guy, Marie. He’s been tearing through people, left and right—I just don’t know.” Marie sits down on the arm of a chair, as Mak continues to walk. The Franchise comes across a fork in the road on his journey. To the left is the trainers room and to the right – massive amounts of catered food. Guess which way he’s going. Riiiiiiight. “You went to the trainer today, right? You said you’d go ever since that match with Stry—you didn’t go did you!” Mak looks at the sandwich layout just down the hall and smirks. “I’m there right now.” “I don’t believe this.” mumbles Marie, as her roommate stops watching the TV and turns to the live action soap opera, that is the relationship between her friend and this wrestler guy. “I thought you were supposed to be a good liar. Put the trainer on the phone then.” A Pause. Sadly, Mak waves goodbye to the food platters, hoping that CIA and the rest of the roster, doesn’t get to them first. If they eat all the turkey…“Okay, I’m going there right now.” Neither person talks, as Marie brings her fingers to lips and bites one of her nails. She goes to speak and then pauses, pondering on how she can put a good spin on this match. And then it hits her. “Maybe I just don’t get it, but I saw the guy the last few show and I think you can take him. What’s the big deal, Mak?” She twirls the phone cord around her finger, as she continues. “You’ve wrestled hurt before and pulled it out, right? This guy is just as beat up as you are! It’s all about will power! Get your ribs taped, have your knee checked out and suck it up Franchise!” Mak mumbles under his breath about the ‘rousing’ speech, as he makes his way down the hall… “I have faith in you.” “Thanks, I really appreciate that—I’m just, well…” “Scared…” she ventures. “NO!” shouts Francis, but he quickly calms himself down, as he enters the trainer’s office. “I’m not afraid of him—I won’t back down. But with this guy, it won’t be a wrestling match. I’ll be fighting for my life, hopefully, heh, figuratively, and not literally, since you saw what happened to Beez—hey can you tape up my ribs, John.” “Sure thing Franchise.” says John, the SWF trainer, as he nods his head and gets the tape, while Mak talks on. “It’s gonna’ be a war. A bloody, brutally disgusting war and I-I don’t want you to watch it. Hell, I don’t want to watch it, let alone be in it.” “Don’t say things like that. I don’t want you to get hurt out there, so just, don’t push yourself too hard. I kinda’ lied when I said ‘what’s the big deal’.” She pauses. “Cause it is a big deal. And I’m scared, Mak. Even if you won’t say it, I’ll admit it for the both of us… I’m scared. But I’m still going to watch. Just remember, sometimes the sacrifices aren’t worth the results. Please, watch yourself out there, okay.” “I can’t hold anything back Marie. Kibagami won’t.” And with that Marie hangs up, frowning at the last phrase he uttered. Meanwhile, John finishes up the tape job, pretty pleased with the speed and excellence of this particular one when… *Riiiiiiiiip!* “Damnit Francis, I just finished that. You know, that’s a waste off some perfectly good tape. Now I have to do it all over again.” Mak shakes his head no. “Huh? Why put your body on the line when there is a means of protecting it! That light padding will give you some good support.” Mak walks out of the room and back down the corridor. The shocked trainers voice gets lower and lower, while Francis gradually moves away. I can’t show any weakness. Not to him. Sometimes the sacrifices are worth the risk.

Guest Beingz0wningj00 Report post Posted July 29, 2003 Good stuff... but it's fun to show fear in front of Kibs... or is that making Kibz feel fear...? Bah I don't know. Good stuff.

Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted July 29, 2003 Niiiiiiiiiice. I liked the weird flow this all had, with the different locales and events of the day crashing together. Great finish, too. Both you and Kibs are maxed out about this, and with just these two promos you've set up a match that really does feel like a big main event. Very cool. Guest Drew_K Report post Posted July 29, 2003 You LOOOOOOOVVVVEEEEE her~! Heh, kidding, Franchise. Good promo. Nice to see you're giving a few props to your silly little opening match wrestling tag team partner. I liked the interaction between Mak and CIA, obviously, as you'ver always done a good job of that, and it's a real believable, friendly conversation they had. I also like how you built up the challenge of NK, there, and the balls to the wall, show no fear attitude the Franchise has always had buried deep down inside for the big matches. Now, of course, I, much like everyone else, is hoping this is all a set up for a CIA run in on your match, what to pop a rating, and all. But it's a damn fine promo no matter whether it leads to more me or not. And there's TURKEY at the craft services table? Hot damn!
