Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted July 31, 2003 Someone could probably make an analogy with a once great company that's in the creative gutter now using a once great band's song that is the title track from their new CD, which most of their fans agree doesn't measure up to their past glory. But I don't know enough about Metallica to do that... Damnit, I wanted to point that out and you beat me.

J. Hungerford Smith 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2003 My gripe with this has nothing to do with the fact that St. Anger is an awful song, but rather what in the hell does the song have to do with anything regarding Summerslam or even wrestling in general? Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 31, 2003 My gripe with this has nothing to do with the fact that St. Anger is an awful song, but rather what in the hell does the song have to do with anything regarding Summerslam or even wrestling in general? Actually you can twist the lyrics into meaning but ONLY if angle turns (which won't happen) St. Anger round my neck St. Anger round my neck He never gets respect St. Anger round my neck "The Gold Medals still don't get angle respect" (You flush it out, You flush it out) St. Anger round my neck (You push it out, You push it out) He never gets respect (You flush it out, You flush it out) St. Anger round my neck (You flush it out, You flush it out) He never gets respect "Angle trying to avoid his anger" [Chorus:] Fuck it all and no regrets I hit the lights on these dark sets I need a voice to let myself To let myself go free Fuck it all, fuck no regrets I hit the lights on these dark sets Put down your noose, I'll hang myself St. Anger round my neck "Angle turning on the fans and not caring about it' I feel my world shake Like an earthquake Hard to see clear Is it me Or is it fear? "Angle abandoning the fans" I'm madly in anger with you [2x] "Angle's Hatred for the fans chanting you suck" St. Anger round my neck St. Anger round my neck He never gets respect St. Anger round my neck (You flush it out, You flush it out) St. Anger round my neck (You flush it out, You flush it out) He never gets respect (You flush it out, You flush it out) St. Anger round my neck (You flush it out, You flush it out) He never gets respect [Chorus] I feel my world shake Like an earthquake Hard to see clear Is it me Or is it fear? I'm madly in anger with you [4x] I want my anger to be healthy I want my anger just for me I need my anger not to control I want my anger to be me "Wants to do what he wants to do" I need set my anger free I need to set my anger free I need set my anger free I need to set my anger free Set it free! "Why he turns" [Chorus] I feel my world shake Like an earhquake Hard to see clear Is it me Or is it fear? I'm madly in anger with you [4x]

Guest The Decadent Slacker Report post Posted July 31, 2003 "St. Anger?" I'd love for Spinal Tap's "Big Bottom" to be a theme, just once. Retro is the only way i'd go. "Dream On" would work. "Paranoid" or "Hurt" by NIN (the Cash version, while awesome, isn't going to work) would be awesome, imo.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 31, 2003 Metallica sucks, St. Anger sucks, Sierra Mist sucks, Soup sucks, Seany sucks, WWE sucks, and Summerslam will suck... However, Brock F5ing the shark = gold. I would rather they use La Breeze by Simian, another awful song, still better then St. Anger. Theme should have been Skeletor vs Beastman right? Guest godofdeadlydeath Report post Posted July 31, 2003 I'm still confused what the hell a "ST. ANGER" is anyways... He says "MEDALLION NOOSE, I HANG MYSELF" not "put down your noose." The idea is that there is a medallion for a saint, like some christians wear, and this one is called St. Anger, and they are treating anger as not a bad thing, but something that you can use to hurt yourself, or even kill yourself with, if not channeled properly. Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 31, 2003 I can't fucking believe you actually tried to interpet that shit... JUST TRY TO EXPLAIN INVISIBLE KID to me! I'm seriously considering that the WORSE written song ever.
Guest godofdeadlydeath Report post Posted August 1, 2003 I can't fucking believe you actually tried to interpet that shit... JUST TRY TO EXPLAIN INVISIBLE KID to me! I'm seriously considering that the WORSE written song ever. I didn't "interpret" it. The album cover is a fist. The back album cover shows the infamous Pushead skull illustration that donned many a Metallica shirt in the 1980s, and it features that fist around his neck in a necklace form. Also, I saw an interview with Kirk where he was wearing a St. Peter's medallion and James told him they should have a St. Anger medallion, inspiring them to write a song about it, and thus the title of that song/album. No interpretation needed. And Invisible Kid is obviously a "Straight-outta-rehab" kind of lyric, dealing with Hetfield's inability to deal with others and hide his pain and hurt inside in his own little world. True, those lyrics aren't good, but that song is EASY to explain, Jesus.
Guest Slapnuts00 Report post Posted August 1, 2003 I love Metallica, let's leave it at that. Honestly WHO FUCKING CARES WHAT SONG THEY USE?! I mean every month they use some flavor of the month whiny nu-metal song as the theme for their show and its immediately forgotten. Its no worse than Staind or Trust Company or whatever... Guest The Metal Maniac Report post Posted August 1, 2003 Well, #1, it's a TERRIBLE mix. Lar's snare drum sounds like absolute SHIT, and yet, it's the loudtest fucking thing there is. All I can hear when that song is played is that fucking snare drum, and it makes me want to kill. #2, it's seven minutes long, yet has little/no substance. If it was like, 4 minutes long, that'd be different, but it's seven minutes of the same 3 or 4 riffs over and over and over again. And they don't even try to make them fit each other - they just kinda shove one after another, so the song just randomly changes into something else for no real reason. #3, it's blatently obvious that Metallica only wanted to show people that they could still be heavy. They forgot to try and show people that they can still be GOOD.
Guest Prototype450 Report post Posted August 1, 2003 It's seven minutes? The only version i've ever heard was the Mtv version so they've must have changed some stuff around, I guess.

They forgot to try and show people that they can still be GOOD. 1) They spent little to no time on the mix, and that was intentional. They wanted to make the most spontaneous, aggressive, raw record they could make because they were flowing with creative energy and they wanted to get out their best riffs and ideas as quickly as possible without fucking with them. You must have a shitty CD player, because although the mix is not that good, if you can't hear anything other than the snare drum, you're deaf. 2) The seven minute version is MUCH better than the radio version, as it features actual build up and dynamics with the riff, whereas the 4 and a half minute version just plays the same heavy riff over and over again without any dynamics. The repetition/buildup of the 7 minute version is MUCH better. Also, live, the song sounds amazingly heavy and aggressive. 3) I kind of agree here with the trying to be heavy again idea, but I also think they believe what they did was good, and I agree, I love the album. "The Unnamed Feeling" is an amazing song.

Guest godofdeadlydeath Report post Posted August 1, 2003 its kinda hard to be spontaenaeous when they spent upwards of 6 months making the album and they didn't use any of those songs they wrote in that period really, they recorded all the riffs they wrote in that period, and took them and cut and pasted them in pro tools pretty much. Guest The Amazing Rando Report post Posted August 2, 2003 I want to hear the Theme Song to Greatest American Hero... ...of course...it would have to be done by some metal band if the WWE did it.... but the hilarity that would ensue if just that song...in it's oldschool form...just started playing and had minimal pyro... I'd mark out.
Guest Deviant Report post Posted August 2, 2003 I like Metallica, enough so that I am seeing them live in January. There is nothing wrong with St Anger the album except for the songs being drawn out in parts when they should have shortened about 3 of them and put in another of the 30 tracks they wrote. St Anger isn't revolutionary or very deep, but it kicks the living crap out of Reload and such, and is a definite step in the right direction. And yes, if they can get the rights to Metallica songs, the fact that Unforgiven hasn't been used for that PPV is downright insanity. I also don't mind the nu-metal songs being used for PPV themes. As songs, the majority suck, but PPV themes are just supposed to get you pumped for the show. The simplicity of those songs accomplishes that for me, but that doesn't mean I'll be buying any Saliva albums any time soon because they suck as a band. Guest Choken One Report post Posted August 3, 2003 The radio Edit... again...as it has been said 10239231323423432 times...The album version is seven minutes and expands the riffs...while the radio edit just kinda chops it off.
