Guest Youth N Asia Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 from IMDB.com Corbett Loses His Luck My Big Fat Greek Wedding star John Corbett's good fortune has run out - his new critically acclaimed show Lucky has been canceled by TV network bosses. Executives at cable network FX have reluctantly decided against renewing the show for a second season - despite it picking up an Emmy nomination for outstanding comedy writing. Ratings for the show, which centered on a compulsive gambler trying to ditch his addiction while still surrounding himself with temptations, drew a modest 2.5 million viewers when it premiered in April. By the fourth week, the series had lost more than half its audience, shrinking even more in June. The final segment of the 13-episode season was screened on July 1. ------------------------- I didn't want to watch the show at first, but after I caught it in re-runs I started to like it. Too bad.
Guest Choken One Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 Fuck. Survivor and Yes, Dear stay on my television and good fun television like this is Shitcanned? FUCK THE AMERICAN IDIOTS WITH A NIELSON BOX!
Guest Youth N Asia Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 I think there was a lot they could have done with the show. And (even thought there's no chance of it happening) I think it would be funny if it actually won the emmy.
Guest Choken One Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 wasn't there a show that did that once but was already canceled?
Guest Youth N Asia Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 hell...I should know that one...dammit, can't think of it
Guest Choken One Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 It was a Drama...I know that much...I think...
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 I never saw the show... but what does FX think they can put on that will immediatly draw better? A channel like FX needs to just let shows stay on for a few years to gain a footing...not cancel everything right away like NBC
Guest Choken One Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 well since THE SHIELD went and become an Soprano level hit... Can't blame them for thinking LUCKY would do the same.
Guest Special K Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 Shit. I liked lucky. It was pretty wry and fun, which we don't see much anymore.
Guest EdwardKnoxII Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 wasn't there a show that did that once but was already canceled? Wasn't that The Ben Stiller Show? I think it win an Emmy after it was canned by FOX.
Guest Crucifixio Jones Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 I never saw the show... but what does FX think they can put on that will immediatly draw better? Nip/Tuck has been awesome the past two weeks.
Guest Vyce Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 Hopefully this will mean more Nip / Tuck.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 I'm 50/50 on Nip/Tuck, which was more then what I was before it debuted. Seems like FX is just trying to create "edgy" shows now.
Guest starvenger Posted August 1, 2003 Report Posted August 1, 2003 I don't see how anything Fox does should surprise anyone anymore.
SpikeFayeJettEdBebop Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 I didn't really like Lucky in the beggining at all. But as I saw the replays I started to like it. Too bad it was canned but I think the Shield is MUCH MUCH better. I also think The Shield is better than Nip/Tuck(I don't like Ni/Tuck that much...its alright)
Guest Youth N Asia Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 The Shield is the best show on TV now that Oz is gone.
