I have a question abdout Apple Macintosh computers

I have a Macintosh computer but I don't have a keyboard and a mouse for it. I want to know if I can hook up a regular mouse and a regular keyboard to an apple computer. Do I need a apple mac mouse and a apple mac keyboard to make it work?

 

Please help if you can.

What type of Mac do you have?

 

If it's a newer one with USB ports, you can pretty much use any USB keyboard/mouse.
