Guest eiker_ir Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 from DavisDVD.com: Lions Gate has just announced Saved by the Bell: Volume 1: Seasons 1 & 2. Arriving on September 2nd (AKA, the biggest release day in history), the five-disc box set will feature a full 750 minutes of Bayside High shenanigans presented in 1.33:1 fullscreen and Dolby Digital audio. Extras will include production commentaries - can we hope for a Screech & Mr. Belding track? Retail is $49.99. looks great, and checkout the spine of the DVD (it's a locker)
Guest MissMattitude Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 Oh my god... must buy that DVD.
Guest HHH123007 Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 I don't remember the first seasons having all the usual characters....weren't they in Jr. High?
Guest Zack Malibu Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 I don't remember the first seasons having all the usual characters....weren't they in Jr. High? That was before the show was Saved By The Bell. That's when it was on Disney as "Good Morning Miss Bliss". Anyhow, I remember Dames telling me about this and Jay Spree confirming it in a column a while back. You know where I'll be Sept. 2nd.
The Dames Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 One of my best friends is buying that for me as a belated birthday present. Oh yeah. Dames
Guest Choken One Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 How many seasons were there? 5? I might just pick that up...if only for Nostalgia.
The Dames Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 So, would "Saved by the Bell: The New Class" and "Saved by the Bell: The College Years" be considered separate shows and therefore have different sets to them, i.e. Saved by the Bell: The College Years Season 1? Dames
Guest Choken One Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 Who would (save for Zack) buy those? I really don't want to Own Bob Golic as a College Supervisor... Which never made sense...Was he a Professor or a Coach or what? I believe they made references he was a former football player (on the show I mean) but how exactly was he the dorm supervisor?

Which never made sense...Was he a Professor or a Coach or what? I believe they made references he was a former football player (on the show I mean) but how exactly was he the dorm supervisor? He was like the R.A. for the gang. He was even taking classes himself. Remember when Slater was taking all the slacker courses, and he talked him into taking real classes to further himself? They referenced him playing football in the premiere. It gave us this classic line: Screech:"So you're kinda like our mom, huh?" Mike:"Your mom? Did your mom play football for the 49ers?" Screech:"Well she tried to but she was cut." I'm honestly dying for The New Class to get repeated on TV or released on DVD. The first and last seasons sucked, IMO, but the middle portions with Ryan Parker, Tommy D., Lindsay, Rachel, etc. were pretty good eps, IMO.

So wait, I'm confused now... is "Good Morning, Miss Bliss" Season 1 or "Season 0"? I'm honestly dying for The New Class to get repeated on TV or released on DVD. The first and last seasons sucked, IMO, but the middle portions with Ryan Parker, Tommy D., Lindsay, Rachel, etc. were pretty good eps, IMO. TNC Season 2 sucked as well, when they had the Swiss guy who was always trying to get Rachel. It wasn't as bad as TNC Season 1 though. Anyways, are there gonna be show commentaries from some of the cast?
Guest Sturgis Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 Anyways, are there gonna be show commentaries from some of the cast? Doubtful. Screech and Belding maybe, but everyone else has completly moved away from the show. Altough I'm optimistic about Slater and Lisa. Now what will they do with Hawiian Style when they get to that point? And will ther ever be American Gladiators DVD's?

Hawaiian Style, Wedding in Las Vegas, and a compilation (featuring the graduation/College Years Pilot and the eps where Zack proposed) were released on video about 3 years ago. They'll probably wind up on DVD in the near future in that same format (I believe Rhino released them). Starvenger, I didn't mind the second season, though the only eps that stand out are when they work at the country club, and the one where Tommy D. starts liking Brian's (Swiss kid) sister.
Guest Star Ocean 3 Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 Saved by the Bell wasn't really good, good enough to see in syndication if there's nothing better on, not good enough to pay for.
Guest Bruiser Chong Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 It'll be a good nostalgic pick-up, although hopefully there will be places offering it for under $40, since $50 is pretty steep. At any rate, they announced this news months ago. C'mon people, you're not that out of the loop, are you?
Guest NoCalMike Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 I want to buy this, but I mean with the heavy amount that the show plays on TV, I can watch season 1-5 in about a 2 week's time. Oh who am I kidding, *goes and marks the calendar*
Guest Zack Malibu Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 I want to buy this, but I mean with the heavy amount that the show plays on TV, I can watch season 1-5 in about a 2 week's time. Oh who am I kidding, *goes and marks the calendar* Hey, I've got every ep on tape twice (and some three times...needed fresher versions of some eps as some were taped on my old VCR, etc.) and this still isn't stopping me from buying the DVD's.
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 *marks calendar as well* i'll probably end up with it as a b-day gift though...
Guest fazzle Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 Even though I've seen every episode 800 times, I'm still gonna get it.
Guest Mole Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 I might buy this, depends how much cash I have.
Guest Aero Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 I'm definitely going to buy this... I only get a rare chance to watch the re-runs on TBS these days.
Guest CanadianChick Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 It saddens me that I will actually pay a lot of money to get this. Oh well.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 Saved by the Bell makes baby Jesus cry
Guest NoCalMike Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 $50 is kinda steep, but then again you are getting 2 seasons for $50
Guest fazzle Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 $50 is kinda steep, but then again you are getting 2 seasons for $50 Well, assuming you know where to look, *cough*, it's only $32.
Guest Mikey2Dope Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 I will be picking this up for sure! There's a tonne of stuff I want to buy before this though, but will be for sure buying it somewhere down the line.
