Best use of blading/juice in a match

Recommended Posts

Guest Dangerous A

It is widely acknowledged that the use of juice helped the Hart/Austin Submission match from WM13 match go from super heated brawl to super classic that will never be forgotten. The image of Stone Cold bleeding like a stuck pig, shouting out in pain from Bret's sharpshooter will forever be burned into most of our memories.

Are their any instances where blood/blading/juicing helped make a match seem that much better. I can think of 2 off the top of my head.

HBK's man-sized blade job from HIAC vs Taker. The bumping and selling of HBK was fantastic, but as soon as he tapped that gusher, all the big spots and bumps seemed to become bigger.

HHH's juice job in the Last Man Standing match vs Jericho. It really helped put over the struggle both men were going through in this match. The juice took the match from heated to a war of attrition.

What other examples can you think of?

Another one just came to my head.

Angle/Austin from Summerslam 2001. Awesome visual of Angle in that match kicking out of all those stunners while dribbling blood down his head.

Taker's blade job in the Brock vs. Taker HIAC was a HUGE-ass blade, and it helped put Brock over even more.

The Rock & Austin both bleeding at WM 17 added to the story of the match imo

ditto for HHH bleeding at the Street Fight with Foley

The night after Wrestlemania, Austin/Rock in a cage.

Rocky taps a fucking vein blading from the Power Trip's attack and then Vince suspends his ass. Good stuff.

Vince McMahon blading in his Wrestlemania match against Hogan. If you're talking about burned into memory, then this surely is ...

Vince looks like a serial killer in that picture.

EDIT: Oh..and for old school...how about the Slaughter/Patterson Boot Camp match?

I loved, loved the repeat of Austin bleeding in the sharpshooter at WM17. To be honest, I think I prefer that match to Flair/Steamboat. Sue me.

the Royal rumble 2001

Stare down between a Overly bloody SCSA in one corner and the Rock in the other corner at the closing segments of the Rumble.

I think Austin had some of the best blade jobs.

Well, he and Flair.

Flair and Austin just coated their entire faces wtih blood...and the visual of Ric's blonde hair turning red is good. Austin's is good because no hair to get in the way of the blood.

Although this match isn't WWE, the juice helped it tons.

Flair vs Nikita Koloff Great American Bash 85. One of Flair's great carry jobs as Koloff was about as green as Orton is now and they had a tremendous match. Flair's entire blonde head was red when the match was over.

Flair's head and hair just seems MADE to Bleed. you can just punch his scalp enough and his Hair soaks up the flowing blood like it was a Grab it MOP

I don't think anybody will be able to outdo Taker's bladejob. I mean his blood was literally pouring from his head, I'm guessing he sliced open an artery or something. I'm just amazed how much he lost given the length of the match and he STILL did the J O B. Makes you wonder how many pints of blood he lost that night.

Pure evil at its best!

Honorable mentions:

Flair's bladejob at WM XVIII added even more to the match.

Even though its non-WWE, Sid Vicious's bladejob in that one match against Goldberg was pretty sick.

Hell, I remember one promo where Flair was slapping himself in the face to get himself worked up during one of his major "woo" fests, and damned if he didn't start to bleed from the head. His skin on his forehead must have the consistency of tissue paper.

Bret vs. Piper WM 8.

The kicker is that Bret bladed but said he got it hardway and got away with it.

On the other side of the coin...how about people who have never really bled.

I don't remember Savage bleeding that much...

Michaels only recently has been doing blade jobs, I think.

But for all time...even though he's not WWE...I think Sting has NEVER bled. Maybe it's something to do with the facepaint.

HBK did blade jobs ALL the time in the mid 90's and did a .7 in AWA.

We had thread about this on the Old School Board...

No he didn't. His first blade job in the WWF that I can remember was Badd Blood.

Except for rare occasions- no one bladed in the WWF for a while in the 90s

Savage gigged in WCW a few times, in Memphis and gigged in a cage match once while in the WWF.

Ah, OK.

Well, that's one. Any other times?

What I would have liked to have seen was during his feud with Vampiro...Vamp cuts Sting open while Sting has the black and white facepaint on.

That would be an interesting visual.

I'm certain I've seen HBK bleed before Badd Blood...

It always seems like the bled for some reason...

Maybe it's my reaccuring dreams interfering in reality again.

Sting also gigged at Great American Bash 92

OK...so he did bleed a few times.

Still, like I said...I would have liked to have seen blood during Sting/Vampiro.

At Spring Stampede 2000- Sting did bleed but I believe it was fake blood.

Due to the WWF's no bleeding policy- I don't recall HBK gigging before then on any of his big PPV matches.

Then why did Flair get yelled at for blading against Savage at the same event? Isn't Flair higher on the saintly level than Bret??

Gonna have to agree with the Taker blade job. I still say he helped Lesnar more than anyone else did by cancelling the job at Unforgiven and then proceding to just get the ever loving shit beat out of him in the match that was supposedly his specialty. Right after he powerbombed Lesnar out of the corner, the image of him trying for the pin and blood just pouring all over Lesnar and even onto his chin and mouth at one point is just tremendous and old school as it gets.
