I'm going to miss the two world titles that use to battle each other during the era of two warring independent companies. A footnote in history. At least Jericho has that claim for his reign. The new belt looks nice, but I'm going to want to see it closer to really see how it looks. It does seem like it's a combination of the world titles in the last 20 years or so.

When I saw the belt I basically said to myself that they made Jericho the champ but wouldn't give him the real belt. Just let him carry around the ones they have and let HHH be the one to christen it. I mean fucking christ you want a guy to be the champion for three months but you don't even trust him to touch the new belt give me a fucking break. Anyone who says that Jericho wasn't fucked from the start now has to pull their head out of their ass.
Guest treble charged Posted April 2, 2002 Report Posted April 2, 2002 They gave Jericho the 2 belts to build-up the fact that the 2 belts had been unified. Eventually, the word "undisputed" will probably be left off of the title, and we'll be back at just plain old "WWF champion".

I just loved the image of the champ holding two belts (Jericho twirling around with a belt in both arm just looked so cool). But, I applaud the WWF taking some action in changing, even at the cost of the two belts *Sniff*

Most if not all of the world title belts had nameplates that changed with each new champion. And put me in the "no" column for the new belt. There's something non-epic about the belt. Maybe 'cuz it's smaller. Or not as shiny as some of the others. Eh. Whatever keeps their championship pants up...

The new unified belt is smaller than both of the belts it combines. That just seems wrong. It just seems to me like the biggest title in the company should be the biggest physical belt too.

It also tanked something I would like to see. If you have an undisputed champion, why not sooner or later dispute it? The Undisputed Title is not on the line. A sneaky heel (hell, pick someone) beats the champ in a non title match. But he takes one belt with him. The Undisputed title wasn't on the line, the heel says, but he still won the match and therefore is entitled to one in his own right (note: read that last word as "Mind") The guy defends the belt as if it's a real title, but have it lack the "official" stuff, like the title match graphic and have the heel do the announcing stuff instead of the ring announcer, saying the announcer forgot or something. Hell, why not? Make major heat, build up a big feud and so on. *sigh* What could have been.
Guest Posted April 2, 2002 Report Posted April 2, 2002 I'm sick and tired of having to defend Jericho, but... HE WAS FUCKED FROM THE START WHETHER YOU PEOPLE WANT TO ADMIT IT OR NOT. Maybe there's some kind of smark-backlash against Jericho since he wasn't a very "successful" champion (I've seen this same smark-backlash against Rock-haters..all of a sudden people support him..) but really what defines a successful champion? It's not like wrestling's real anyways, all of the matches are fixed. So, technically if HHH is a great champion, it's because he's booked that way. I know I'm dumbing this down a LOT to where this argument has gone, but it's really jsut as basic as that. If the shoe was on the other foot and Jericho had the HHH push, and HHH got the Jericho treatment (pointless feuds with Kane being stuck with Steph as a manager when you're trying to establish a new gimmick (keep in mind that the "Game" gimmick was already in place as was his push WELL before he was paired with Stephanie)) everyone here would be talking about how Jericho's the backstage politician and HHH deserves the push that Austin shafted him 2 years ago. All I gotta say is fuuuuuuuuuck that. Who puts on the more entertaining matches? Who's better on the mic? Everytime the mic went up to HHH's mouth me and my friend predicted what he would say..."I am the Game, blah blah blah. I am that damn good blah blah blah. I worked hard, 8 months blah blah injury blah blah lookit me I'm INTENSE blah blah blah WWF Undisputed Champion blah blah blah I wanna fight right now yadda yadda yadda" At least Jericho can cut a decent fuckin promo and have a fun match. And he's not afraid to job or make himself look weak... Because hell, we've all seen that haven't we? Hey, and how about that heel Taker? Love the promo he cut..WEll not necessarily but I ESPECIALLY loved and was DYING laughing at the part where be most likely broke script.. "Say What if you sleep with your sister!" Doesn't that seem redundant? I agree with Court, Ratboy, Tino et al - the belt looks nice (and shiny!) but it's tiny relative to the old ones.

By the way, terrible writing killed Jericho's title reign. I'll leave it at that. I'd give a long winded argument, but I just don't have time right now. The Title is a little small but its pretty cool. JERICHO was fucked from the start god dammit. Dont Blame Jericho blame yourself or the WWF Booking team.
