Does raw even need tag teams?

I don't really see the point of tag teams on RAW if there are no belts to chase after. And does anyone want to see the Bossman in a tag team? I guess it would be ok to pair up guys occasionally to continue a feud but I see no reason for permanent teams. Whaddya think?

I agree completely.  When Perfect adn Bossman came out to wrestle the Hardyz, I questioned what the point was when they have no prize to fight for.  The tag matches on Raw should be used to further feuds and occasioally to fill time, but no more.  ANd no I don't want to see Bossman at all, lat alone in a tag team.  BTW is he a cop again?  That goofy badge he has now would seem to indicate this, would it not?

I was thinking the same thing once Matt and Jeff the Wonder Thong came out (sorry, still thinking about the Jeff debate in the other thread). No belt, so why compete?

Maybe there'll be RAW tag team titles soon. Otherwise, why keep the Hardyz together? Hope springs eternal...

BTW, Buh Buh Ray looked pretty good out there, but it's just not the same. Who will he ask to get the tables? Lillian Garcia?

;)

The WWF's tag division sucks. They should of just let the Tag Titles float around both shows.

Well there is really only one reason that i can see that would be a positive of still having tag matches on Raw. To give WWF more chances to build up new tag teams. However Hennig, Bossman or Goldust being part of a new team will not help to build up new teams at all. However i do agree that it will be hard to make the matches not seem totally meaningless.

The only point of tag matches on The New RAW is to move along two feuds at once (ex. RVD and Austin vs. Eddy and ???).

With no tag titles there should be no permanent tag teams. I think that's the reason that the Hardy's were the beatdown of the week. The women's division means more on Raw then the tag divison (who would've ever thought that).

I want to see as much Bossman as I possibly can.

He's more legendary than Hulk Hogan and he's a better wrestler too.

I mark for Bossman!

That's a good question... about who BuhBuh will ask for the tables, i mean...

"HEBNER!"

I would not mind if they just dumped the whole tag team concept for the Raw show. I cannot say I would want to see any wrestlers there team up on a regular basis, and the tag division has sucked lately anyway.

Eh i don't know. It's POSSIBLE to build up tag or single feuds without a belt just much harder. However WWF hasn't done very good at building up tag feuds with a belt at stake, so it isn't likely. But hell i could live with some meaningless tag feuds if it could give us some new teams and give the tag division a much needed breath of fresh air.

:exhales: but still...i'm not holding my breath

Actually Bossman and Perfect teamed up with metal...Who knows....I thought that now if rey signs a contract and goes to Smackdown! we could have two tag titles.

I don't know why, but when Bossman/Perfect came out I laughed the hardest I think I have all week. Maybe it was because it was the first time I'd seen them together and everyone on the board has been making fun of them together.

I heard Bossman is actually a pretty funny guy, maybe they should just let him do the comedy gimmick and get it over with. Doing the old Bossman shtick might be good for some laughs... sorta like what they tried to do with Owen as the Blue Blazer again.

Except maybe without killing him.

On second thought... ;)

Then tell us how smarty pants.

I dont understand how.

I'm guessing he's thinking of Rey and Kidmans WCW cruiserweight tag titles. They won't use those though.

There really is no point having tag teams if there are no belts for them to win. I would have kept the Dudleys as a team and put them on Smackdown and maybe split up the Hardys. Bossman and Perfect is just pointless, why not use someone young from the developmentals who might actually stand a chance of getting over and drawing some money.

Because Perfect & Bossman is a jobber team.  You don't want someone young with potential getting beaten every week.

True.  They're the equivalent of Tito Santana and enhancement-talent-of-the-week back in the early 90's.  Mind you, the young guys still do lots of jobs, but that's pretty much how wrestling goes, I guess...

Anybody remember that old Bossman/Perfect feud? Wouldn't that be fun to resuscitate? At the very least, Bossman could trick Perfect into eating his dead mother or something.

Honestly, kill the Perfect character, make Bossman a security guard character, or just kill it, I'm not nostalgic enough to want to see the two surving members of the 80's midcard.

Meaningless factoids:

Bossman and Perfect were former nWo members.

Bossman and Perfect were characters in one of the first WWF arcade games (WWF Superstars, I believe)

And I may be in the minority, but I don't think either of them deserve quality TV time, even as a jobber team. The 80s are over. Let them and Hogan play the ambassador role like Hillbilly Jim and make way for the new guys.

And sure, why not another tag belt for RAW? The two champs for each "brand" can duke it out at WM each year.

I don't think the Bossman was ever in the nWo.

Anyway I know they have been teaming together on house shows so why not the occasional Raw when a tag match is needed.  Personally I would have rather seen Brock Lesner kill the Hardy's before the match started, not after.

I'm pretty sure he was.

At the first Souled Out, Bossman fought for the nWo against someone (I forget) and ran him over with a motorcycle. I'm sure he didn't last long, but he was part of their jobber squad, along with Rotundo and Virgil/Vincent.

Sorry, I must have smoked that show out of my memory.

Am I the only mark for tag teams here?  How about BuhBuh & Spike Dudley or Raven & Stevie?

Besides tag teams are a necessary evil for Raw how else are they going to push the up-n-comming talent if they only have room for 4 matches a night?

At this rate the Hardy Boys will become stale and eventually evolve into the Headbangers/Rockers goofyness...ah too late.

Que?  I thought Bossman was RAY TRAYLOR~!, standing alone against the nWo at all costs during that time in WCW?

Raven's commentating on Heat. I think that's why he dropped the HC belt. So he probably won't be wrestling full-time, much less teaming up with anyone. But it could happen. Although I'd rather see him with Tommy Dreamer.

Yep, he did that too. And look how long that lasted before he packed up and moved back to Connecticut.

Wasn't JR praising the team of Raven/Dreamer in the Ross report this week?

I love tag teams but apart from the NWO and Hardys there aren't any on Raw. I'd like to see the Flock with Stevie, Dreamer and a few others and have them in tag matches. The problem is I really see the Hardy's working in the Flock and that leaves a feud with the NWO as the only other tag team on Raw. Which would die on it's arse as the Flock would be jobbed incessantly and never get a bit of heat on them.

Raven's gonna be on HeAT commentary? Cool... anyway, as for tag-teams on RAW, there really is no purpose for them now because there are only three (Hardys, nWo, '80s Heel Job Squad!).  Then again, if Billy Gunn and Chuck Palumbo can be put together and turned into a team that is sort of over, I guess anyone can be a successful tag team if put together enough.  As for no belt, I don't really think wrestling feuds are built solely around the belts anymore.  But then, with so few tag teams there couldn't be any real "tag team feuds" either.  nWo have to remain together to be the MONSTER RAW HEELS~!, but there's no reason "3 Extreme" can't be used as singles wrestlers... then again, I'm having a weird flashback of Jeff Hardy's 4-day IC title reign and Matt Hardy's "never defend the belt... ever..." European title reign.

Aren't the Tag team titles the equivalent of the world titles only for the tag team division? Why are the singles world champions allowed to go freely between the two shows but the world tag champs aren't?

Unhelpful answer:

Because *that* would be logical, and *this* is the WWF.
