I'm unpingable

Recommended Posts

Guest TheGame2705

I have WinXP, a cable modem, and I have the XP firewall up. I did select for incoming echo requests to be available however. Any windows settings that could make me unpingable? I've also noticed that I can't access streaming content at 300k when I could before yet according to speed tests, I have better up/down than before.

Disable the firewall and see what happens. It would be best for you to either use the free Zone Alarm (www.zonelabs.com) or Kerio (www.kerio.com) for a firewall as well.

Ahhh yeah probably. They said they were taking precautionary measures against it. Thanks

That sounds about right to me... we've disabled it on our network here, and all the internal pings and ping attempts that Blast is causing still keeps crashing our DHCP server. Tomorrow I get to go around to infected faculty computers and repair them.

Fun.
