Is he really as good as everyone says he is?

I've never seen him before, so I don't know if he is good or not. I've only heard that he is a great wrestler.

Yes he is. I think from what I've seen. All depends what standards you judge by.

Ask on the indy board.. he's an indy worker, people there will know better.

AJ Styles is the best wrestler currently at NWA Wildside.  His moves are revolutionary like any other indy stars move set is considering it is borrowed from Japan.  I believe that AJ Styles is the future for the WWF CW division, his match against Hurricane should be the bench mark for all Cruiserweights in the WWF.

in the tradition of Training Day "RVD ain't got sh!t on AJ"

He is damn good. He was in WCW at the end, teaming with Air Paris, who I havn't heard anything of since.

I've seen him several times in Wildside and in various promotions.  He was the guy in the final days of WCW that did the the springboard Shooting Star Press to the floor in his tag matches with Air Paris.

RVD is one of the best, of all time. He can literaly do it all, and that's the truth. Everything from talk on the mic, plenty of charisma, can mat (technical) wrestle, high flying, can take great bumps and other high impact moves, uses psychology in matches, can chain wrestle, etc... & etc...

If you've never seen him perform, then you have been denied, lol. Screw him being in the CW division, I want him feuding with RVD or some other new outstanding talent over the IC belt. A CW run could work at the begining, as he COULD do wonders for that division, I can't even imagine how fantastic an AJ Vs. Rey match could be, lol. But, I wouldn't really want him to get "lost" in that division...

...as he can and should go, much farther than that.

Sincerely,

...Downhome...

AJ Styles is good when he is being carried but by himself, he suffers from Christopher Daniels syndrome of "spot to spot to spot" without any real thinking.

Other than that and his selling issues, I guess he is good.

I seen him on the WWA PPV and he pulled off a crazy Shooting Star Press from the top rope to a couple of guys standing outside the ring.  It was an impressive move.

he has some nice spots, but the guy just doesn't sell that well in my opnion.  He is cool though. I still like Helms in his indie days than most guys in recent indy history.

The really scary thing about Styles is how much he keeps improving.  I've seen him live in two matches over the past month, and both were first-rate in terms of spots, selling, psychology, and general flow of the match.  He used to be a Low-Ki-esque spot machine, but has eased out of that recently and is becoming a more well-rounded worker.

I don't know if the WWF will, or should, hire him, because he's only 5'10" and has a plain vanilla type of charisma, and Titan has been traditionally lousy in handling the cruiserweights.  I've heard that he might have a shot in this new Jerry Jarrett promotion starting up soon.

And as for Air Paris, he's had a lot of personal problems over the past year and mostly just stays home, from what I've heard.  He's said to be out of shape, and no-shows as often as not.  That's a shame, because he was a good talent, too.
