Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2003 My question is who the hell is #4 after today? Does Chris Gamble play Cornerback or Intercept the Hook pass? I guess he found out not every route is that. USC will be #4, and Georgia #5 Like Herbstreit on ESPN said, the only team who can beat Oklahoma is Oklahoma. That's a tired line, but in this case it's true. Everyone hope on board the Jason White Heisman bandwagon.

Bored 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2003 (edited) Here is the updated now Almost Official BCS Top 25 and Bottom 10 from collegebcs.com. This week these rankings are about as close to being official as you can get right now. Only one of the seven computer ratings in the BCS formula is not available this week. Official rankings come out next week but I'll still post a full Top 25 after this week since the normally when the official rankings come out they only make the Top 15 available. As you see that there will be some controversy as Georgia will come out ahead of undefeated Virginia Tech in the official rankings next week barring an upset this week. If Va Tech and Georgia both win out it could be VERY interesting. Note I've seperated the Top 12 from the rest of the teams as if your in the Top 12 that means your a eligible for an at-large birth. If your in the Top 6 your gaurenteed a spot in a BCS bowl regardless if you win your conference or not. Northern Illinois as you see is in Top 12 and if they win out they will likely be eligible for a BCS bowl but cracking the Top 6 seems unlikely which will probably be the only way they can get a BCS bowl 1. Oklahoma 3.06 2. Miami 3.66 3. Georgia 11.24 4. Virginia Tech 13.37 5. Florida State 14.65 6. USC 16.07 7. Iowa 17.10 8. Ohio State 17.44 9. Arkansas 23.86 10. Washington State 26.47 11. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2003 A couple more losses from some ranked teams and my Bowling Green Falcons will return to the top 25! OH YEAH!!! Not in the BCS though. Those bastard computers are fueled by haterade
Bored 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2003 (edited) I think Bowling Green has been ranked 26th or 27th for about a month now in the AP poll. On Northern Illinois, ya I think they will lose at Bowling Green as I think they are probably the best team in the MAC and not NIU. But I'll still be rooting for NIU to be the only undefeated at the end. Should note that the Northern Illinois/Bowling Green game the week after next has been picked up by ESPN. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2003 You know who I'll be rooting for. Beating TWO ranked teams in a season would be unheard of for my Falcons. When they beat Purdue this year...it was the first time since before I was born that they beat ONE!
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2003 A must win for Minnesota. They lose and it's hello Sun Bowl. A win and they have a shot at a New Years Day Bowl, maybe even the Rose Bowl. I don't they'll win though Smoker is too good a passing QB, and the Gophers won't be able to stop him.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 15, 2003 Here's hoping A&M destroys Nebraska <<< is still bitter about Michigan having to share the National Title with them.

lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2003 hell yeah it was i remember watching that Orange Bowl game and seeing Scott Frost and the rest of Nebraska's team going on and on about how this great coach deserved to go out with a national title when he had just won two in a row what a year earlier
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 15, 2003 So who was the jackass that punched out the Missouri fan after the game? And honestly I hope Nebraska never wins another National Title after that bullshit. Someone in a local paper broke down what had to happen for the split and it was revealed the some voters would've had to drop Michigan to 4th in the polls for Nebraska to leapfrog them. That means Michigan was ranked below 3 teams with losses. And it's complete bullshit.
Gert T 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2003 Rumors have it that Philip Fulmer voted Michigan 8th on his coaches poll ballot to try and shore up enough points for Nebraska.

Bored 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2003 Which is why you never pay attention to the Coaches Poll. God I wish ESPN would drop it partnership with it so it wouldn't get shoved down everyone's throat. So much better when CNN sponsored it and absolutely no one paid attention to it. Bored 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2003 I don't know if anyone else cares but this conference swapping stuff is just fascinating to me. In a preemptive strike against the Big East taking Louisville and Cincinnati (along with DePaul and Marquette for basketball) next month since they need to rebuild their conference now, Conference USA is now going to invite Marshall and Central Florida from the MAC and SMU, Rice, and Tulsa from the WAC next week. http://www.sportsline.com/general/story/6723515 Good lord gonna need a program just to figure out who plays where. After working with budgets in athletic offices at the small college and high school level it makes me wonder if all of these moves are going to backfire in the long run, because travel costs are just going to kill the small sports. Bored 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2003 Just to add to the story from earlier in the week SMU, Rice, and Tulsa have accepted invitations to join Conference USA: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=1640564 Eh, not exactly Miami, Virginia Tech, Boston College but guess they had to do something. South Florida is now expected to join Louisville and Cincinnati in leaving CUSA for the Big East next month. One new rumor out there has Boise State joining the Mountain West which would probably signal the end of the WAC.
Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2003 South Florida is now expected to join Louisville and Cincinnati in leaving CUSA for the Big East next month. Wow. That'd be a pretty big coup for South Florida. If memory serves, I was reading awhile back that they are a pretty new team to division one football. Heck, in my NCAA football 2003 game, they are listed as an independent. To rise from that to potentially getting a BCS bid if they can field a good enough team is quite the great move. Props to them. Bored 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2003 (edited) Whoops made a mistake on the national t.v. schedule as USC/Notre Dame has already started. Adding on...Purdue beats Wisconsin on a late field goal 26-23. Michigan State is up big late on Minnesota. Purdue and Michigan State are your Big Ten leaders, who would of thunk it? Georgia is being stunned by Vanderbilt at the half 2-0. Yup, 2-0. *insert the usual sports anchor baseball reference* Holy crap...USC 21, Notre Dame 14 after just one quarter. I was watching the end of the Purdue/Wisconsin game so missed it all. Edited October 18, 2003 by Bored

Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2003 the Oklahoma State/Texas Tech game is now 48-42 Cowboys with 9 minutes left BJ Symons has 478 yards and 4 TD passes in the game, he's 37 for 59. Symons now has 31 touchdown passes and 3432 yards this year. Tech has 5 games after this.. I really like Symons shot at Detmer's yards in a season record (5100 yards) and Klingler's TD record (54)
