December 4th...the 5th HUGE game that my Bowling Green Falcons will play this year.

Unfortunately they're 2-2 in the previous HUGE games (Beat Purdue and N. Illinois, lost to OSU and Miami (ohio))

The good news is it's in Bowling Green...and teams don't just walk in and win games in Bowling Green. They can wash away their big loss to Miami and claim the MAC in what has been a big year for the MAC.

Once again a MAC game is the game to see this week. I think Bowling Green has a good shot...they seem to play better as the hunter than the hunted as witnessed by their big win over Northern Illinois followed by the loss to Miami of Ohio. Also, trying to beat a team twice in the same year is very hard to do. Bowling Green seemed to be thrown off of their game the first time...playing at home and being the underdog I think BGSU will play better now that most of the pressure is off them. I can't wait to see two of the best quarterbacks in the nation go at it once again...maybe Josh Harris can have a better game this time.

It'll certainly be a goodie, but I think the LSU/Georgia rematch pretty handily takes game of the week honors. That is, unless you think KSU can make a go at Oklahoma, which I soundly doubt.

So, does the MAC team that loses the championship game get leapfrogged by Northern Illinois and not pick up a bowl bid, or do they still take that slot in the #2?

I'm pretty sure Bowling Green gets the Motor City Bowl invite this week. I think they were only waiting on inviting them to make sure they beat Toledo in the final game and got to the MAC title game.

I really don't think LSU will be able to beat Georgia two times in the same season. At least I hope not.

I'm somewhat torn on the Big XII title game, as I'm a big KSU fan, but I like OU too

If KSU wins, they finally make it to a big bowl game (unless the BCS just totally goes out of their way to screw them)... but then OU probably misses the title game (there's still a chance they could make it due to other issues)... but if OU loses and certain cards fall, Michigan can go to the title game and...

Bowl news...Memphis is going to the New Orleans Bowl and TCU officially declined the invitation from the GMAC Bowl. It surprises absolutely no one in the media is connecting the dots to the Ft. Worth Bowl and playing a bowl game at home as they are just playing up the afraid of Miami of Ohio angle, which they might be too. Maybe no one knows where TCU is located? Interesting note the GMAC Bowl is now allowed to pick someone outside Conference USA if they want.

Hey look...New BCS Top 25 from collegebcs.com

Oklahoma's in Win or Lose, and Kansas St. is guaranteed a BCS Bowl with a win.

Bowling you over...with bowl news...and shocking news at that as TCU has accepted an invite to play in the Ft. Worth Bowl. In their own stadium. In front of their own fans. *pats self on the back for figuring this out last week when the media couldn't*

Also that sets up the rest of Confernce USA, already mentioned Memphis to the New Orleans Bowl and now Louisville goes to the GMAC Bowl and Houston to the Hawaii Bowl. Seriously who did the Conference USA people blow to get five guarenteed bids?

Pac-10 is almost completely set up now as Washington State is going to the Holiday Bowl, California to the Insight Bowl (GO VA TECH!!!!), and Oregon State to the Las Vegas Bowl.

Pretty sure Oregon accepted a bid to the Sun Bowl.

That would leave the Silicon Valley Classic left for the Pac 10. It's probably UCLA's if they want it.

Yes...well today they did officially...Oregon to the Sun Bowl and UCLA to the Silicon Valley Bowl where Fresno State will be too.

But there was actually something surprising today...Bosie State is not going to the Humanitarian Bowl. They've accepted the at-large spot to the Ft. Worth Bowl to play those pussies at TCU. Now its provisional spot based on the Big 12 getting a 2nd team in the BCS which everyone assumes they will with Texas or Kansas State if they won the title game. The WAC now gets a 4th bowl team as Tulsa takes the Humanitarian Bowl spot. This also probably ends any hope of Connecticut or Northern Illinois getting a bowl game.

Sweet. Boise St. will show why they're the best mid major team in the country.

Glad Tulsa got into a bowl. They've really gone under the radar in terms of the great turn around season they've had.

Ooh, I'm feeling a Clemson/Florida game for some reason. If Clemson wasn't hot as all fuck right now I'd give the game to Florida easily, but Clemson's 63-17 ANAL RAPE of USC (South Carolina), a team that would have beaten Florida had it not been for a complete brainfuck decision by Holtz to have that fake punt...

I say Clemson beats Florida in a sound manner. Not a blowout, but it'll be by 10-20 points.

Actually, it looks like it's going to be your boys facing off with Clemson.

Florida accepted an invitation to the Outback Bowl this afternoon.

The loser of Georgia/LSU'll go to the Capital One Bowl...Ole Miss'll go Cotton...and Tennessee eats a peach. Ouch. So much for beating UF during the season and finishing higher-ranked, eh?

Hmmm I had been wondering if the Outback Bowl would pass on Tennessee to get the more geographically friendly Florida and there is the answer. Mississippi has been invited to the Cotton Bowl. Capital One Bowl is likely going to take the loser the SEC title game so yup Tennessee is going to squeezed.

Because Gainesville is about 90 minutes from Tampa, home of the Outback Bowl, and there's absolutely no doubt that they'll sell out mammothly and comfortably again. Florida is nuts about football, and while I'm sure Tennessee would travel, they've got no reason to turn away a sure thing. They're after money.

Florida's also just looked like a much hotter team since midseason. Tennessee's season landmark is beating Miami, which was huge, but came just one week after they'd gotten beaten by Virginia Tech. Old news to the public. Even after the FSU loss, Florida's the hot-looking program.

(lacks the vocabulary to emote how incredibly upsetting this news is to him)

Tennessee: 7th in rankings, 9th in BCS.

Florida: 16th in rankings, 14th in BCS.

Tennessee: 10-2.

Florida: 8-4.

Tennessee: biggest victory is against Miami, ranked 6th at the time.

Florida: biggest victory is against Georgia, ranked 4th at the time.

Both are co-holders of the SEC East title...

BUT--

September 20th, 2003:

Tennessee: 24

Florida: 10

Tennessee fans would go to Kazakhstan to see their team play, so this "they wouldn't travel as well" stuff is bull. Florida is pretty damned close to the Peach Bowl site also, it wouldn't have been a problem. Tennessee beat Florida, it's that simple, and so they should go to a better bowl not even because of that but because every ranking system agrees that they're better than Florida.

There are two bright spots in all of this: We get an all-orange Georgia Dome, and I get to harass both Clemson and Carolina fans in the same season. Truly, Tennessee will own our entire state and not just the Gamecock-sympathizing areas finally.

(hatches plans to raise a UT flag over the state capitol building)

Redemption for that embarassment would have been a better bowl this year or killing Maryland in whatever bowl we ended up playing.

At least the people of Big Orange country (like myself) know that this Peach Bowl season was not due to an underperforming team decimated by injuries (10-15 starters out at any given time), but was due to some BS (not BCS) bowl politics.

Definately, but hey, Peach Bowl is on Jan 2nd this year. Clemson/UT will be a good game. Clemson at this time is a bigger challenge than facing Iowa at the Outback. Clemson raped SC and FSU, so Tennessee beating them would be impressive.

Reports are simmering that Ohio State might miss out on a BCS bowl and we'll get a Tennessee/Texas Fiesta Bowl~! Now THAT I want to see. The REAL UT against that poser Texas.

I like ESPN.com's power rankings' little comment on it: "Is it legal to have that much orange in one stadium?"

I KNEW that the ability of Tennessee fans to sell out any bowl game, anywhere, anytime, would help them, as well as Ohio State losing more recently.

THE DREAM LIVES~!

New coaches' poll...so much for that conspiracy theory:

1. USC

2. LSU

3. Oklahoma

4. Michigan

5. Texas

6. Ohio St.

7. Tennessee

8. Florida St.

9. Miami

10. Kansas St.

11. Georgia

12. Iowa

13. Purdue

14. Washington St.

15. Miami (Oh.)

16. Boise St.

17. Florida

18. Mississippi

19. TCU

20. Minnesota

21. Nebraska

22. Oklahoma St.

23. West Virginia

24. Maryland

25. Utah

--------------------------------

26. Pittsburgh

27. Southern Mississippi

28. Northern Illinois

29. Michigan St.

30. Bowling Green

31. Clemson

32. Virginia Tech

33. Missouri

34. Louisville

35. Oregon

36. Oregon St.

37. Auburn

38(t). New Mexico

38(t). Wisconsin

40. Marshall

41. North Texas

42(t). Navy

42(t). Syracuse

42(t). Arkansas

42(t). Connecticut

42(t). Fresno St.

Well, if the writers poll is similar, Georgia will likely drop enough that LSU will lose their quality win bonus. It could be mighty, mighty tight.
