JangoFett4Hire Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 If I'm trying to get set up for wireless internet, what accessories do I need? I know I need an "Airport" card (I'm using an I-Book, BTW)... is there anything else that I need?
MrRant Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 As in wireless network? You would need a broadband connection as well (DSL, Cable modem)
Guest Spin Jump A Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 I've never tried a wireless network, but as far as I know, this is what you need: 1. An Airport card, one per computer (If your iBook is a newer model, it might already have one.): $99 2. An Airport Base Station: $199 - $299 3. A broadband internet connection. 4. (optional) If you plan on using wireless internet on more than one mac, you will need some sort of an ethernet hub. These usually run at around $30 - $50. 5. At least 1 ethernet (RJ-45) cable. The Airport Base Station is connected by ethernet cable to your DSL/Cable modem (Or your ethernet hub, depending on your setup). It then connects wirelessly to your iBook's Airport Card. The end.
