Bret Hart or HBK who would you pick?

Recommended Posts

In 1994 Bret was more over, overall, than HBK has ever been. HBK just had the same teen girl crowd, Jeff Hardy did.

Bret. Period.

I believe the question was 'who is the better wrestler' not who is more popular.

However, the same answer results in both questions, so I'll just shut up.

As big a fan as I am of Bret Hart (and I'm quite a big one), I'd have to take Shawn. Outside of Flair and Kenta Kobashi, I'm not sure I've seen someone pull so many great matches out of bad/ mediocre workers.

I feel they're about equal on the mic. (both have their strong points, but neither is particularly great.) I felt Shawn was a much more explosive and diverse performer, wheras Bret was more methodical and tended to have more consistency and longevity. It really is a toss up.

If for one match, I had to choose one, I feel Michaels at his best is better, but both of them are two of the best American workers of all time.

Shawn Michaels is my favorite of the two. He's just had so many great matches. I agree that he can get great matches out of horrible workers(ex. Diesel). Plus, he's loyal to Vince McMahon, which Bret wasn't. And, he's more entertaining than Bret. I take some points off for HBK wearing that weird stuff on his clothes, to the ring, but I do the same for Bret Hart wearing PINK!

HBK was so over that at SSeries 96 the MSG Crowd was booing him out of the building and cheering for SID of all people.

Shows how much love HBK got from the crowd

The Survivor Series '96 was an isolated incident and bringing that up in any context is pretty useless. The same thing happened to the Rock last year at SummerSlam and New York's long history with cheering Big Heels can be traced bck to the late 70's Billy Graham era
