DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2003 Well, when we planned this trip to Maryland, we didn't realize there was going to be some free televised mini-concert from the National Mall until the night before we left. Although I have no idea who Good Charlotte were or any care to see Mary Blige perform, I decided to go anyway because A. It was a big televised deal and B. Aerosmith was there. Last night at 11 (and this morning too), all the news coverage talked about what a great time everyone had. I guess this because they didn't talk to the people like me who left early.... It was a lot like a SmackDown TV Taping... it wasn't actually live, but they pretended it was on TV. They took really, REALLY long pauses between acts to get it down right for TV. And they had dark matches... or in this case, dark acts. We heard Aerosmith on our way in at 5:50, then GC came on and all the silly little girls went crazy. The grass was wet and muddy from all the rain here, and we had nothing to sit on. This was our own fault, but we had been walking all day and were in no mood to stand some more. After GC came out again at 7 for the "Live" portion of the show, they took about 35 minutes to show 5,261 commercials on the big sceens about cleaning up America's parks. It was really ridiculous, so we just left. What was the point of this? Nothing. But I hate it when they lie on TV and say something is live when it wasn't, then have all these people saying what an awesome time they had. I suppose if you filed in at 7:45 after GC and Mary finished and saw Britney and Aerosmith with all the pyro, they'd be right.
