The introduction to 'Battle Royale'

I picked up Battle Royale at Waldenbooks yesterday, and the introduction (called a 'rant') is about the wrestling match type of Battle Royale, mentioning Road Warriors, and I think Misawa and Kobashi among others. Besides being about 'battle royales', does anybody know what it has to do with the rest of the book or why it was included?

It simply explains the rules of a wrestling battle royal and presumably it's there to show the differences and similarities between the strategies employed in those and in the deadly Battle Royale you're about to read. It won't make much sense at first, but after you read the book it should make more.

 

Or maybe you're looking for too deep a meaning in a little three-page rant about how there could be confusion between the two types of Battle Royales.
