Just Started College

Recommended Posts

I'm looking forward to college. I've got an unnaturally strenuous senior year ahead of me though, with AP economics, psychology, English literature, chemistry, and French V. If I can pull off 4s and 5s and maybe one 3 on those six exams, plus my 4 in US history, I might be able to pull off sophomore standing.

Damn you all to hell

The Lite Stuff

2 Workshop seminars a week

- These involve reading a soon-to-be-published research journal article and then having to discuss it with the author (normally some PHD guy from another college waayy the fuck far away) and these last about 2-3 hours

Weekly seminar in economic policy, 2 hours a week...that's just the reading

The Middle Stuff

Graduate Level Micro-Econ

Take your normal econ class, give it a steroid shot ala HHH/Steiner. Feel my pain

The really bad stuff

The really bad stuff

Historical Economics

Reinterpreting history along economics

300+ pages a week

Mathematical Economics

Calc 1, Calc 2, Calc 3, + statistics + econometrics + linear algrebra

Help me

Guest Agent of Oblivion

A lot of my college experience was spent walking around campus on mind bending drugs, in between bouts of dissecting things and balancing reactions. If I had applied myself in high school to get some grants and scholarships, I might still be there.

However, my math teacher may be the most...interesting teacher I've ever had. He's gotta be at least 70 and almost totally deaf. He also just goes off on completely random tangents in the middle of class, ranging from the life history of some semi-relevant mathematical figure to how someone keeps stealing the sign in front of his office. He then just slips back into the lecture like nothing happened. Its scary really.

I had a Enviromental Science teacher who was just like this, he was well traveled, and even played in the NFL briefly. he would go off on random subjects from time to time, and allow us to distract him easily, since we all slept through his lectures.

Help me

Sure, I can help - go convert your degree to an English degree before the deadline, and take all the creative writing subjects you can - poetry, fiction, children's writing etc.. As long as you've got a few good ideas, you can rattle off your entire degree in about a month total.

I have:

Mondays/Wednesdays:

10:00 - 11:45 am - Intro to Computing Concepts

This professor isn't too bad, except he goes too in-depth on everything, and he's extremely opinionated.

12:00 - 1:20 pm - College Composition II

I've had her before (for College Comp. I). She's not too bad.

Tuesdays/Thursdays:

8:30 - 9:45 am - Business Math

The professor's an ordained deacon who was friends with Father Michael Judge, and he got to talk to Bush on 9/11 over the phone. He isn't too bad, but he talks down to everyone (like a kindergarten teacher).

12:00 - 1:20 pm - Principles of Business

BORING. Hey, stuff the Center Moriches Paper Company up your ass! It's all he talks about (that, and old pop culture things that NO ONE was even alive for)...
