The WWF is trying to get every non-top-of-the-card-guy down to a $125,000 downside guarantee or less. The current WWF contracts, too, are for 3 to 5 years with the downside guarantees, leaving wrestlers unable to work for any other promotion if they become unhappy with the WWF. The WWF has the semi-long term deals signed just to keep their talent away from any of the up-start independent federations, such as XWF or WWA. (Meltzer, 2002)

I bet alot of these guys who took pay cuts from the Time Warner Contracts to come "wrestle" for the WWF must be pissed now.

If this is true, then it is truly sad.

From what I've been told, the average mid carder currently has a downside guarantee of between $200-300k a year.  Of course, most of these guys make way more than that through merchandising, ppv bonuses, and a portion of the house show gates.  This becomes an issue when the wrestler is injured and cannot work.

I just can't believe the WWF wants to restructure contracts to pay them much less money.  And specifically midcarders.  These guys have short career life expectancies, so they must make the most money they can while they are able.

I don't think most of the upper level WCW guys, like Booker and DDP, will be affected by this, if this is even true.

Booker T & DDP took major pay cuts to be in the WWF and now they're just jobbers. I highly doubt their get stuck with the 150 Grand downside but still. I'd be pissed if I was them.

I know they both took paycuts.  But I do not think they will be targeted for contract restructuring.  I'm think guys like Lance Storm, Hurricane Helms, and even WWF midcarders will be targeted for the restructuring.

I wonder if Kurt Angle got a pay cut since he just resigned a new contract?

I don't know if you can say they are being ripped off. I mean since they make more when working, 125,000 is still alot of money to make while injured.

However they do deserve to be paid more money then that. They deserve more just because of the amount of time they travel around and wear and tear on their bodies. But still they aren't being ripped off getting 125,000, they just deserve more.

Vince screwing over his wrestlers because he can will end up screwing Vince over as well. Vince will only be able to do it for so long until a bunch of guys get fed up with it and join together to start up something you know Vince fears. They will eventually start a Wrestlers Union and use Ventura(i think he's the one that has talked about this) as their leader.
