Guest EQ Report post Posted September 14, 2003 I just found out that for my 21st Birthday, my mom is planning a surprise party for me (my friend spilled the beans). I always feel uncomfortable whenever there is a party in my honor. I feel awkward and I don't ever really enjoy it. I was hoping to just have a quiet thing at home with just my family and then go out for some drinks with my friends later. I was thinking about somehow trying to hint to my mom that I don't want a party without actually telling her that I know of her plans, but I think she really wants to do something special for my 21st, so I think I'll just keep my mouth shut because it might hurt her feelings. Anyway, does anyone else feel the same way or do you like being the center of attention every now and then?
Guest The Old Me Report post Posted September 14, 2003 Keep your mouth shut. You will hurt your mom's feelings if you tell her how you feel. As for me, the jury's out with surprise parties as if they're too large and filled with people I don't really like, then they suck. But the family one's I can usually handle. Sandman9000 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2003 I don't like parties period, so one thrown in my honor, especially a surprise one, usually turns into a surprise party thrown without a guest of honor.
Guest stardust Report post Posted September 14, 2003 I can handle small family get togethers with maybe a couple of friends, but even those tend to make me uncomfortable. Then again, I always seem to get really depressed around and on my birthday, anyway, for some reason, so I end up just being very unhappy and going off by myself and not talking to anyone. Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2003 See, I consider every holiday but Halloween, Thanksgiving, and X-Mas to be "just another day," so I don't like parties thrown otherwise.
Guest HungryJack Report post Posted September 14, 2003 I dunno, I just like being around my friends, and meeting new people , and drinking, so parties of any kind kick ass. Especially keg parties , with space invaders machines from the 70's . those rule.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted September 15, 2003 No way I'd go to a surprise party if I knew it was happening. I hate those things.
