The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

Recommended Posts

Okay, valid point.

If that is the case, then, There are no "true demons" who are living in "Angel's dimension."

What about the nazi demons in Hero? Weren't they supposed to be "true" demons?

Some demons didn't leave our world or die before man came. Some stayed and "evolved" (or de-evolved, however you look at it) into more humanoid forms.

which would explain why they looked all patched together

I have come to the conclusion that Angel won't be picked up, and I am finally okay with that. I have full faith in Joss and Tim to end the season great; they know what they are doing.

Tim Minear, you mean? I didn't think he was working on Angel anymore (hence him not writing any episodes this season). After he heard that Angel was ending he wanted to direct a later episode, but couldn't because of his schedule. I think Jeff Bell or David Fury ended up taking his place as executive producer.

That would be David Greenwalt.

And Joss is the only true EP, well he is the only one who gets the credit.

Anyway, I'm glad to see that DREW GODDARD~ is writing episode 18. The man was a god for Buffy season 7, and so far we've only seen him write (by himself, at least) one episode this season (Lineage), since he wrote Damage and Why We Fight with DeKnight. I'm really going to miss his writing. I wonder if another show is going to pick him up.

I believe they were "pure" demons, as in they were demons who never got together with humans, like some did.

I believe that ALL vampires that are still around, aren't full demons. I don't even think The Master was full demon, well it might have been, but I believe we were never told that.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, in cannon?

Show mythology. It all depends on which version of vampires and demon myths you look at, as they are all different.

My god, we need lives :P

Or to come home from school and find out that none of my friends are around. I don't even have any Buffy/Angel to watch here.

Correct. I believe Joss or one of his people has said this.

In cannon, Vampires were never real demons, which is why other demons consider them inferior.

Well, they ARE demons, just in human bodies. Basically, one of the last demons to leave our dimension fed on a human and mixed their blood. The human rose again as a new creature. The human soul had left, but the demon's soul had infected the dead body; the demon's soul was in the blood. This new creature was, of course, the first vampire. It had all the memories and SOME of the personality of the body it inhabited, but it wasn't human. It fed on humans and created more of its kind by mixing their blood. And that is the story of the first vampire.

Giles explained all of this in the original "Buffy" pilot (now split into two episodes).

were the Ubervamps pure demon?

I'd like to have found out more about the demon that made the first vampire

The demon probably looked the same as Angel did when he vamped out in Pylea. The uber-vamps are a special case. They, for example, can enter a house without being invited. There is also their lack of anything even resembling humanity. Are they "pure" demons? Who knows? One could argue either way.

They can enter a house without being asked? I don't remember that.

Yep. They can enter uninvited.

in the episode where Buffy killed it, it came into the house. I'm pretty sure they didn't invite it.

Ohhh yeah, I remember now.

And this is Angel in Pylea.

Giles said the ubies were like the cavemen of vamps. "an ancient and entirely different race". Who knows what that means. Like most things introduced to the plot in season 7 it makes little sense, contradicts established canon and ended up amounting to nothing.

I didn't see him in Pylea, nor do I know what Pylea is. I haven't seen past season 1

Then I strongly suggest you go get seasons 2 and 3 on DVD. They are far, FAR better than season 1.

You know those Slayer Collection DVDs I talked about? Well they were released today and I had decided to just pick up the Faith DVD for my Eliza fix. Of course, the moment I step into a store and see all these Buffy DVDs staring at me, I can't resist and I now have Faith, Buffy and Angel Best Of's. And none of them are anything to write home about, just some TV spots and a couple seconds of interviews are new. I'm so weak minded, I can't even afford them really. :(

On the plus side, I haven't bought the Spike and Willow DVDs... yet.

I'm not so sure that they contradict established canon. Joss has always seemed to be big on continuity. I have my own theory on the uber-vamps.

They're ancient vampires; I'm talking Master ancient. But unlike the Master, these vampires lost their human intelligence. They lost even a semblance of humanity. I believe the reason vampires CAN'T enter human houses is because, in a sense, they're demons trapped in the body of a dead human. They also have some of the former human's personality and memories. In this sense, they're in a state of flux (a demon in a human body). Because they're "corrupted," neither FULLY human or demon, they can't enter the dwelling of a human. The uber-vamps as mentioned, have no connection to the people they once were. NONE. None of the personality, none of the memories, and none of the intelligence. They're as close to a pure demon as a vampire can get. This is why they can enter houses, IMO.

Hmmm...I agree with you, sort of.

However, the ubervamps are REALLY old, but I think the First was making them. When was the Hellmouth full of them? Never.

So I think the First was making them, just like Orcs are made in LOTR. Think about it "From Beneath You, It Devours"

I always thought that "From Beneath You, It Devours," was just a metaphor for the Hellmouth itself. You know, mouths devour things and the Hellmouth is under Sunnydale. Then again, the First did say that it was the "It" that the saying mentioned. "Angel" may have shed some light on the whole thing, if it wasn't getting cancelled.

How cool would it have been for Angel to face an uber-vamp (assuming Spike didn't kill every last one)?

I think Spike killed all of them.

And with the whole "From Beneath You, It Devours" thing, you have to watch season 7 more than once to get the whole thing.

When it comes down to it, it figures out that what "From Benath You, It Devours" means that something from the Hellmouth is going to take over. The Ubervamps are what was going to take over, but Spike stops it before it can happen. So basically, the Ubervamps were what "devours you from beneath."

WELLLLLLL, that is the way I looked at it.

And eventually, I will go throught the whole Buffy series, seasons 1-7 again.

I was always under the impression that the Turok-han were simply ancient vampires who were driven underground/into the Hellmouth a long time ago and simply transformed after hundreds of years, like all vampires who live an extremely long time.

As far as the Uber-vamps living, it wouldn't be out of the question that a few escaped between Never Leave Me and Storyteller when the Seal of Danthazar was still open.

Of course I could be proven dead wrong by future episodes or canon, but what are you going to do?

Didn't the first say "you want to see what a real vampire looks like"? Which means that they are 100% demon, rather than a demon/human hybrid?

Sorry if this was brought up before.

If your theory is true then shouldn't The First have said "You wanna know what a real demon looks like?"

The big question seems to be whether or not the Turok-hon were pure demons who lost all humanity in them, or vampires who happen to have a lot more demon in them then most vamps do, making them like 75% demon and 25% human.

I hope I didn't confuse anybody.
