This thread isn't about whether Jesus is real or not. Let's not get into that (we'll be here all day). Personally, I think there was a Jesus (although, I doubt that was his name).

I'm not "anti-religion", I think it's a great way to maintain morality throughout the world.

 

My beef is that those who are religious have it cemented in their conscience that what they believe in that regard is real, and the correct way to think (*cough*Tyler*cough*).

 

Step back for a second and think of this:

 

If you and 500 people went to a farm every Sunday since you were born, and a man told you that when you die you turn into a chicken, what would you believe?

 

*now think of this*

 

If you and 500 people went to a church every Sunday since you were born, and a man told you that when you die you are took either into paradise or eternal damnation, what would you believe?

 

It's all bullshit.

 

There's a reason we're here. Look at us, we're civilized and evolved to the point where we can actually ponder our origins on this earth.

 

Just don't let anyone inflict their beliefs and opinions over your own free-will.

So basically, you don't like reliegious types because they believe in something and refuse to believe anything else. Then you go on a rant about how you don't believe in the tenants of Christainity and that all Christians are stupid for believing it.

Agreed, and that in and of itself is an argument for people to want it off the shelves.

 

Let's couch this in a different context.

 

If I wrote a book claiming to know things about President Bush's past and made up some stupid shit about how he was a murderer and had defected to Soviet Russia in his early years, do you think I should be allowed to make millions of dollars off of that?

 

How is this any different?

Baiting groups or people is not against the law. The author has every right to try to get his book in stores. Hell, Mein Kampf and the Communist's Manifesto have both been on book shelves. Just because you don't agree with a message doesn't mean you shouldn't be exposed to it. Example, I despise Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter. But I'm not going to campaign to have their books removed from stores. As for your Bush example, people exagerrate or make-up shit about leaders and politicians all the time.

But bottomline, you can't prove that the basis of Christian relegion is not true. You can't. You have no idea if it is bullshit or not. You BELIEVE that it is bullshit. You can't say that Christians are stupid for believing in something that can't be proven when you can't prove they are wrong.

They at least pretend to back it up with facts. They don't go as far as to say "CLINTON COMANDEERED THE VEHICLES AND FLEW THEM ALL INTO THE WTC!!!"
