Abby in WCW?

I just read that Abdullah the Butcher was hired by WCW in 2000 and performed under a different name, is this true and if so what are the circumstances behind them hiring a 60 year old when they alreadu had guys like Hogan, Flair and Funk to fulfill the vetran quota?

<<99.999% sure Abby's last stint in WCW ended in 1992/93.

I watched WCW to the bitter end and I'm currently trying to compile as many show results as possible.

Abby didn't appear in 2000. Every smark knows what Abby looks like and it'd be awfully hard to hide him. I think I'd remember it if he did show up.

IRCC...The legends were Snuka, Santana and someone else but NOT Abby.

I think I read it on a column in the oratory subsite on rajah- they said he went under a gimmick name (the boogy woogy man maybe) and that they were shocked as to how he had gotten even less mobile and that he was still wrestling- they said something like they saw his stuff as the (boogy woogy man?) in wcw and thought he was embarresing himself... oh well maybe I misread it, it was quite a while ago.....

I don't remember this at all and I think this would be something one would notice.

I'm not even sure Russo would hire Abdullah the Butcher, name him after Jimmy Valiant and have him wrestle on TV. Plus, this would have been on wrestlecrap at some point...

The Boogie Woogie Man was Jimmy Valiant and neither he nor Abdullah was in the WCW in 2000. Both men were working the independents still at that time and still are today. I believe Abdullah was wrestling exclusively in Japan during this period.
