Game Informer Preview

Game Informer dedicates nine full pages to Max Payne 2 in their September 2003 issue, including a wealth of screenshots and in-depth gameplay coverage. For those of you not up on the classics of cinema, there's even a film noir primer to familiarize yourself with some of the inspirations for Max Payne 2's story and visual style.

"... a tragedy with enough violence, intrigue, and diabolical plot twists to satisfy any fan of life’s seedier side... simply gorgeous. Seeing it in action, we marveled at the level of detail that Remedy has achieved. The nighttime city looks eerily real, as we saw rain splashing on the ground and neon lights reflecting on puddles and casting real-time shadows. During combat, shotgun blasts showered sparks off a parked van, which then exploded in a huge pyrotechnic display. Texturing has been improved exponentially, as has nearly every aspect of the game’s visuals… it would be difficult to bet against Max Payne 2.”
