Guest Mystery Eskimo Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 It's still a bit early to predict I guess, but how do you see the card shaping up? At the moment we could have Hogan v HHH RVD v Eddy Edge v Angle Tajiri v Kidman Kane/Bradshaw/Big Show v nWo
Guest tazmission86 Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 Lots of this post is cut and pasted from my post in the HHH vs Hogan thread, but this is my updated line-up for BackLash (at least how I would do it): Triple H vs The Undertaker in a No DQ match for the WWF Title Hulk Hogan vs Vince McMahon The Rock vs Chris Jericho in a Last Man Standing match for the number one contender's spot Austin vs X-Pac Kane vs Scott Hall Edge vs Angle Eddie Guerrero vs Rob Van Dam for the IC Title Kidman vs Tajiri for the WWF Cruiserweight Title William Regal vs Booker T for the Euro Title? Bubba Ray Dudley vs Bradshaw for the Hardcore Title? What I Think They Should Do: On Monday, have Ric Flair make the match a three-way match. He invites Vince McMahon in, who okays the three-way match, then gets punked by Ric and thrown from the building. Later in the night, HHH and UT get into it to build some heat between them. On Thursday, have Hulk Hogan question Vince's decision to involve Undertaker, and have them get into a heated discussion. Triple H interrupts, and says that he wants Hogan one-on-one, and if it won't happen on BackLash, he wants the match tonight on SmackDown!, and Vince makes the match. In the main event of HHH vs Hogan, Hogan has just hit the big boot after HHH mostly dominated, but Vince runs out and punks out Hogan, causing a DQ. Hogan and Triple H are furious, and both of them beat up Vince as the show goes dark. On Monday, Undertaker says that Vince told him to take care of Triple H for beating him up. HHH and Taker get into it, until Taker grabs a lead pipe and annihilates Triple H with it. On Thursday, Hogan says he is willing to give up his Title shot if he gets a match with Vince at BackLash. Vince comes out, talks crap, and the match is made. Meanwhile, Jericho and The Rock keep arguing over who should be Champ next, and they make a Last Man Standing match or some other gimmick match for BackLash. Meanwhile, on Raw, Flair says that he doesn't trust Austin, but wants him to continue his assault on the nWo. Austin says he won't fight the nWo unless they want to fight him, because he's already proven he can beat them. This brings out Hall and X-Pac to beat on Austin, until Kane makes the save. In the main event, Kane and Austin take on the nWo, until Bradshaw interferes, to everyone's delight. However, he clotheslines the hell out of Austin and assaults Kane. The nWo beat up Austin and Kane together as the show goes black. Austin says he will take care of X-Pac while Kane threatens Hall. Bradshaw says he is the new enforcer of the nWo, and will be in both men's corners at BackLash, or maybe he would start a feud with Booker T (face) or Bubba Ray for the Hardcore Title.
Guest Anglesault Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 Oh yeah, Austin will feud with X-Pac.
Guest Austin3164life Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 I doubt Austin would ever feud with X-Pac or any of the nWo, considering the short fiasco he had with the WWFE, and also the interview that X-Pac had. You think we might get Austin vs. Rock at Backlash, with Austin's heel turn and Rock going over?

Guest RickyB Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 Hogan Vs Vince? No thanks. I don't want that match to ever happen, Hogan can't bump enough to carry Vince - plus he's still an active Wrestler so any kind of offence that Vince has will make Hogan look bad. If they did do it though it needs to be further down the line than Backlash.
Guest RickyB Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 Hogan Vs HHH *World Title* nWo Vs Bradshaw/Kane/Austin The Rock Vs Angle Vs Jericho RVD Vs Eddie *Intercontinental Title* Undertaker Vs Flair rematch William Regal Vs Edge *Euro Title* Kidman Vs Rey Mysterio Jr Vs Tajiri *Cruiserweight Title*
Guest Austin3164life Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 If Austin ends of feuding with X-Pac, then you know the Clique is unstoppable. If Austin ends up feuding with X-Pac, then you know that Austin will probably end up leaving the WWF.....
Guest Anglesault Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 The Rock Vs Angle Vs Jericho I like that idea better than Angle/Edge If Austin ends up feuding with X-Pac, then you know that Austin will probably end up leaving the WWF..... And then Jericho, and RVD, and Rocky, and Angle...Pretty soon HHH is going to get what he wants.
Guest tazmission86 Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 "any kind of offence that Vince has will make Hogan look bad." Yeah, I know. Wouldn't it be great? "If Austin ends up feuding with X-Pac, then you know that Austin will probably end up leaving the WWF....." No, if I were in charge, I would have Austin beat the living shit out of X-Pac at BackLash. I mean, NO offense for X-Pac at all. Imagine: The nWo music hits and X-Pac comes out, doing his stupid strut. He gets on the mic and says about two words when GLASS SHATTERS and Austin comes stomping out to his Disturbed music. As soon as he enters the ring, X-Pac rushes him. Austin looks up, KICK WHAM STUNNER first thing. He stomps the hell out of X-Pac, does the "What?" head smashes, the FU elbow, and another KICK WHAM STUNNER closes the deal within minutes. After the match, he demolishes X-Pac with a chair. This upsets Flair, and they start a feud the next night. Austin is over as hell, and X-Pac has zero credibility. Yeeha in my book.
Guest bcu1979 Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 Has the WWF ever officially announced how these PPV's will go? I was under the impression that RAW talent would only wrestle RAW talent and Smackdown talent would only wrestle Smackdown talent. But the Torch kept reporting that the original co-main event for Backlash would be Rock/Hogan/Austin? v. NWO, which would make the split completely pointless. Even after Nash's injury, Keller had the gall to suggest Rock/Hogan v. Hall/X-Pac as a suitable PPV co-main event. Like there's any justification of X-Pac being higher on the card than Austin, Angle and Jericho. If they don't allow mixing between the sides, I see a card looking something like this. Triple H v. Hogan Austin v. Undertaker (could be Booker if they put Taker in the main event) Rock v. Jericho (stip match - I'd like to see an I Quit match) Hall/X-Pac v. Kane/Bradshaw Angle v. Edge RVD v. Guerrero Rikishi v. Albert (I'm cringing too. But it looks like a possibility after Smackdown tonight.) Brock Lesnar v. ? in his first match Kidman v. Tajiri
Guest Anglesault Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 Tazmission, that's nice, but the Clique will never go for it. And bcu Angle v. Edge GOD DAMNIT NO! Rikishi v. Albert (I'm cringing too. But it looks like a possibility after Smackdown tonight.) Maybe it will turn into the monthly "Get Test on the show match" and have the reformed T and A face Rikishi and Scotty! Suck all around! (Even though 'Kishi can be one of the best big men in the WWF)
Guest Human Fly Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 I'm in favor of anything that doesn't involve Albert being called the "Hip-Hop Hippo" that's worse then the Big Valbowski. They brought back Hall, and Eddy (after only a few months) they might as well bring back Brian Christopher (who sounds like he did the least out of the three) and reform Too Cool.
Guest Austin3164life Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 I think it would be good if we saw an Austin vs. Booker T match. I doubt Austin would mind working with Booker T, and Booker T could use a good push. But this time, I'd have Austin go heel, and Booker T as a face. Booker T can be easily over, and Austin can do heel or face whenever he wants to. It would work.....
Guest tazmission86 Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 "Tazmission, that's nice, but the Clique will never go for it." I know, but I can protein myself dreaming about it. The main event(s) for this show may be confusing and down right crappy, but at least we'll probably have a couple of badass undercard matches in Tajiri vs Kidman, Latino Heat vs Rob Van Dam, Brock Lesnar vs anyone, and Kurt Angle vs a can of kidney beans.
Guest Anglesault Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 and Kurt Angle vs a can of kidney beans. aka "Edge"

I would not be surprised if Brian Christoper did come back. Now that Scotty & Albert have broken up, Billy & Chuck are the only tag team left on Smackdown. I don't see Hugh Morrus and Chavo Guerrero cutting it as the top challengers. A reformation of Rikishi & Too Cool would not bother me that much. Rikishi was fine as a mid-card comedy act. It wasn't until they tried to put him in main event programs with Austin and Rock that fans crapped on him. And Too Cool was a solid tag team when they actually wrestled. They could have entertaining feuds with Christian/Storm or Billy/Chuck. I also don't see how The Big Valbowski is an improvement over Val Venis. Is Sean Morley really that bad of a name?

I think Kishi was at his peak in 2000 and if he hadn't gotten hurt he could have been something.

I still see Rikishi as devoid of personality & mic skills. I can't see him main-eventing. Upper midcard is the highest I could have seen him going.
Guest Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 if they put RVD/Guerrero, Rock/Jericho, Tajiri/Kidman and Brock Lesnars debut all on one card it should make for the best PPV so far this year.
Guest bcu1979 Posted April 4, 2002 Report Posted April 4, 2002 I dissagree. I think Kishi was at his peak in 2000 and if he hadn't gotten hurt he could have been something. Rikishi was at his peak in 2000. As part of the Too Cool trio, feuding with other mid-card guys and being involved in the occasional tv main event. When they tried to make him a serious main eventer by revealing him as the guy who ran Austin down, the fans completely crapped on him and that storyline. He had no heel heat and his interviews were terrible. Then Triple H was revealed as the mastermind of the plot and Rikishi became just another face in the crowd. His character was completely dead by the time he got injured in early 2001. At the time they had brought Haku back and they were involved in a terrible, heatless feud against Taker/Kane.
