Nova signs with the wwf

Recommended Posts

The news that Nova has signed with the WWF will surely get smarks jacked up. I see it this way: Nova can't work. Yes, he flies a lot, but is just another RVD with a different costume. He's got no transition and a reputation for screwing up matches by going longer than permitted.

IN:

Nova

OUT:

Scoot Andrews

Mike Modest

Chris Daniels

Dean Malenko

Jerry Lynn

Simon Diamond

Steve Corino

He worked a good match with Doug Williams soon after ECW folded. Then again I've never seen Doug Williams have a really bad match with anyone but there was Psychology, pacing and not even a lot of high spots.

I don't mind as the Cruisers seem to be quite a varied bunch.

Tajiri,Misterio, Kidman, Scotty (if he isn't out for surgery), Nova, Spike. All reasonable workers without just being spot masters.

Simon Diamond I just don't see as a WWF employee, same with Corino. Daniels I haven't seen enough of but what I've seen has been good. Andrews and Modest I haven't seen at all.

Malenko is a road agent which is what he lobbied for although I would like to see him back.

Got to agree they dropped the ball on Jerry Lynn, still if the WWA push him he'll probably be back soon.

Nova's a flyer?  I always figured him as the guy with a whole bunch of ground based stuff, who went to the air every once in a great while.  I'll give the guy some rope to hang himself with, heck I didn't think RVD had a lick psychology before getting to the WWF but he's done nothing but improve since signing.  I don't know why going long is a problem in independent cards with no TV exposure; but thats not going to fly in McMahon land.

Nova

And Dawn Marie... rowl!

OUT:

Scoot Andrews

Who'se Scoot Andrews?

Mike Modest

Chris Daniels

You make it sound like they got fired.  They aren't out so much as they haven't been in yet.  Maybe all their Japan dates are a problem, beats me.

Dean Malenko

He's retired.

Jerry Lynn

He's boring.  No really.

Simon Diamond

Him too.

Steve Corino

He doesn't want to work for the WWF because he's dumb.  I'm not sure why you want another Stevie Richards when you aren't using the one you have.

There is obviously the argument that RVD got better after being in the WWF, so Nova could improve as well.  Plus with the WWF's penchant for 3 minute specials, a spot machine might work out.

That being said, I think that if he does make it, he'll be just another only-on-Metal "superstar"

With "Hollywood" Nova and Big Stevie Cool already there, it appears that we're just Da Blue Guy away from a new poison being injected into the WWF ... the Blue World Order.

I admit it'd only get a pop from a VERY small number of us, but the casual fans might think it's funny to see these three mock the NWO.  And, like the Hurricane or the "Indeed!" gimmick, sometimes it's enough to give some jobbers a little bit of personality.  You know they're not going to win, or be a main eventer; but they'll come out and entertain the crowd for a few minutes.

But why would Vince want to entertain us?

I guess all you Nova fans had better look for him on Jakked.

I really do think that are pushing the Cruisers with Kidman and htem actually working an angle with the belt.

Steve Coino, in my opinion plays an extremely good heel far better than Richards and his in ring work is underated. He needs to bulk up a little, perhaps but he has the base of a huge star. Plus, no one on the continent bleeds like him.

Corino was probably my favorite ECW competitor just because of the time Credible was doing the catch phrase of doom and Corino cut him off and was like "That is the worst catch phrase in the history of wrestling" Don't get me wrong I like Nova and he can be the Smackdown Version of RVD but I would love to see Corino in the company just a little bit more.

Nvoa will be a Cruiser most likely.  He has no charisma or mic shills so that will limit his success but his movset is very cool.  I wonder if Nova will come in with a chip on his shoulder because everyone stole his moves. ;)

Kanyon is like a refined nova. I don't see any point in nova anymore. His matches just got boring towards the end of ecw. I don't like corino either, but he was a decent heel before his inexplicable main event face run. If any one old ecw'er should have been signed it's CW anderson.

I don't really have a problem with WWF signing Nova, as I don't see what everyone has against him, except for his claims that everyone steals his moves. But what happened to the interest in Super Crazy or Simon Diamond? I'd much rather have either one of them as opposed to Nova.

Anderson would be good. Arn gave his blessing to him to use the name and he was having really good matches at the end of ECW.

I don't see Nova as a cruiserweight.  I think he'd be on RAW, where he'd fit in well with the European or Hardcore titles.

If he sticks with his "innovator" personality (although I doubt he'll use the nickname because with Dreamer and Kanyon we already have one too many innovators), he may get over in the Hardcore division as a guy who doesn't need weapons, but always has a new move that'll put you out.

If they make him a cocky young heel, he may fit in well with Heyman.

Super Crazy will not be far behind.

Nova has been able to have real matches since the ECW thing so I believe that he will just make more people eat their words like RVD did.

Where is this being reported? I can't seem to find it anywhere on the net.

Scoot Andrews - he's dubbed the Black nature Boy. he partecipated in the 2000 super 8, I think. he competes in ECWA.

Nova - contrary to what almost anyone thinks, Nova just happened to steal some popular japanese move and name them after him. The kriptonite Krunch, as an example, was used by Steve Williams in All japan before Nova took it to ecw. BTW, most of Nova's main moves hit on the neck, so don't expect him to use the same moveset he used in ecw. His usual moveset was something like swanton bomb/K.Krunch/Novacaine (edge's downward spiral).

CW Anderson - he's good on mat wrestling but ain't got a wwf look.

Dawn Marie Psalitas (ECW Valet) signed over the past week, as did Mike Bucci (Nova).

I was going to do a post on this in the indy folder, but I think it fits in well in relation to Nova being signed.

I wouldn't complain that guys like Modest, Daniels, Andrews, and any of our other unsigned faves didn't get signed.  As much as I am a fan of the WWF, I also look other places for entertainment, and nowadays, that is within the tremendous amounts of indies out there.  I collect tapes from all over, whether it's CZW, Corino's PWF, Ring Of Honor, NWA Wildside, and what have you.  Now, if all these guys like Daniels, AJ Styles, Modest, etc. get signed by McMahon, what do we have to turn to?

I'm not saying that they are the only talented ones, and I don't think even Vince could lock up EVERY above average indy worker, but why should we want them all to come in, only to be relegated to Metal/Jakked semi-jobber status, or maybe a 4 minute match on RAW or Smackdown? There just isn't enough time for the guys on the rosters now, nevermind newcomers.

Then you have the OVW/HWA situation.  We still have Jamie Knoble, Shannon Moore, Mark Jindrak and Sean O'Haire left over from WCW.  The Island Boyz and Steve Bradley have been under contract for nearly 3 years I think!  (I remember seeing Bradley take on Kurt Angle in a '99 dark match).  Others like Race Steele and Lance Cade, who are beginning to get noticed are also vying for a shot.  These guys have put a ton of effort into their WWF deals, so why should they get passed over to sign an "indy darling"?

As a fan of the WWF, I wouldn't want all these guys under the same banner.  Sure, I like Chris Daniels as much as the next guy.  I think Donovan Morgan could be the "next big thing" one day.  But for now, I don't think it's right for them to come to the WWF.  I think it will just happen with time.

Nova suplied me with one of the greatest "mark out moments" in my history of watching Pro. Wrestling. Yes, the awesome/cool as hell...

DDT/Stunner/Leg Drop combination to three guys at one time!

...if that has a name, let me know, and I sure as hell would love to see that again!

I've seen Daniels in ECCW carry him to a match that built off mat work into the highspots. He's workable, but he's going to have to change his offense.

many of ecw wrestlers were good because they got carte blanche to elaborate a match. in the wwf Nova will have 1 main move, 1 main catchphrase and will wresrtle opening matches on raw or SD while the big guns play the game.

Am I the only one who wants to see Nova vs Hurricane?

I believe that Nova would be a good addition to Raw chasing the European title, or join Paul E's stable.

Any chance of Nova's twin sigining, could be the greatest tag team brothers of DOOM :)

I like the hiring of former ECW talent.  Now if the WWF would only sign:

kid kash

cw anderson

danny doring

roadkill

steve corino

While there are several guys I would have rather seen get a contract, Nova will probably fit in just fine with WWF.  He has that look to him.  I see him as another Jeff Hardy by that I mean they have very little fundamental wrestling knowledge, but can do highspots that woo the crowd thus getting a pop.

If the WWF is really serious about cruisers like giving them 2 or 3 matches on Smackdown then there are lots of guys they should consider.  AJ Styles, Air Paris, Chris Chetti, Jamie Noble, Shannon Moore, I wish they could have gotten Kaz Hayashi and Jimmy Yang but oh well.

No, I want to see that also. Here is another good one...

...am I the only one who wants to see Nova & Hurricane as a tag team, and a run with the straps a few times together?

hmmm Green Latern & Venom vs Tajeri & Super Crazy would be nice.

As for the other CW guys from the indys I doubt that they will ever get a fair tryout......Vince is a power wrestler mark!!!
