An Idea Guaranteed to make WWE Money

Recommended Posts

It is MUCH cheaper and more profitable to do the thing they are doing right now and that is mass producing single dvd's. It's just not economically sound to do all this individual stuff. There's a reason why the printing press and the assembly line are considered 2 of the most important inventions ever.

I think the benefits of this system speak for themselves. There's really no doubt in my mind they'd make a tremendous profit. Especially since what I described had really no extraneous packaging and would be cheaper to produce. I mean all it would take really would be a DVD Burner.

I also like how you claim it's MUCH cheaper when there's nothing to compare what they're doing now to.

So They'd make 25 million a year on DVDs instead of 17 million or Whatever, the hassle isn't worth it for a minimal gain

Ok, I will simplify this...

I'm a tape dealer.

Now, I could do 2 things.

Mass Produce 10 Popular Tapes and sell them for $10 each, and basically only take 2 days to make them.

or.

Customize tapes for each individual customer, sell them for $20, and spend a week on making them.

Which is more efficient? Which costs less?

Yes, I know, you will say "but the WWE has better technology"..

WWE has someone else produce their DVD's. For the WWE to do this, they would have to purchase their own capital equipment, and then place their video library into it, then set up a system, then buy the discs, then produce labels... etc. etc. etc. Ok, how much do you think this all would cost and implement? Hmm? 50 Million? (very generous here) The market is in decline. How much do you think Wrestling fans will give them? How many wrestling fans would be willing to do this? How much does the avg wrestling fan need? Would they be happy with 3 DVD's worth of video? Do they even know about "hidden gems" and what not?

Meanwhile, their DVD market is growing with the system they have, and they are making money on it. Hmm, this is a tough one..

If they did this, they'd charge a shitload for these custom-made DVD's. They won't be cheap and I'd expect to pay at least $100 per set. Great idea in theory but I doubt it's viable in practice.

Excuse me for asking, but are you fucking retarded? How fucking much does it cost to make a Compact Disc? (Give up?) They are VERY VERY CHEAP. If they get their library oragnized they could charge 20 bucks a DVD EASILY. They'd make a big profit since the expenses are minimal.

I'm not saying "sets" dumbass. Read the goddamned posts.

Look at any wwe merchandice catalog, dumbass. It doesn't matter how much a blank disc costs, it's called "mark up", you can read about it in business class.

As a fan I love the idea, but to make money this makes no sense.

The markup doesn't even matter that much, because it would likely be ridiculously expensive to do.

I would imagine the way they would have to do it to save time is to have every match stored on computer files, that can just be moved onto a burning program. Now, I don't know that much about servers and shit, but I would think to store every match they would make available in DVD quality on computer servers would be very expensive.

Also, throw in the fact that they would lose the audience who is willing to buy a PPV DVD for one or two matches. For example, I bought RR 03 for Angle/Benoit. For a custom DVD, this match would probably take up about 1/10th of the disc. So instead of making me pay 20 bucks for it, I end up paying 2 dollars for it.

And add in the aforementioned economies of scale.
