Guest Banders Kennany Report post Posted October 16, 2003 I buy stuff off of eBay every so often, and was considering signing up to make quicker work of the transactions, since most sellers seem to accept it. Question is, how safe is it? Any horror stories, or I should be totally trusting? I assumed they'd be pretty secure and trustworthy, but I just wanted to firsthand opinions if anyone's got them. Guest Razor Roman Report post Posted October 17, 2003 I've used it to buy.. but the warnings on those pages sound pretty severe. I've never had a problem.
OldSchoolWrestling 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2003 I use it all the time. I just make sure not to keep too much money in there. If you use it to send money, it should be no problem. If you use it to get money, like selling stuff, it gets complicated. I sold some wrestling tapes and then a few months later they emailed me to tell me the person reported their credit card stolen and I not only had to give the money back, but an extra $10 for them having to investigate it. I'm a little more careful now. If you accept payments only from users that have "verified" their address, and you ship with package tracking, you are covered if something like this happens. I sell a lot on ebay and what I like is that I was able to get a debit mastercard from paypal. If I have funds in the account, I can actually use that credit card anywhere I want, and can also withdraw from an atm as well. Also, if you sell on ebay often, they let you join a 1% rebate thing where if you use it as a mastercard instead of a debit when you buy something, you get 1% back into your acct automatically. Its only a few cents per transaction, but its still better than nothing.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2003 I've used it for two years now for buying and selling and have yet to have a problem. I've had thousands of dollars come my way over the years through paypal and still haven't had an incident yet. People seem to be a little hard on it, although I've heard some stories, but as far as personal experiences go, it's been nothing but a great way to send money and recieve money fast, without worry of the other party not getting it. Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 17, 2003 I've never had a problem using it. The people complaining on those sites sound like they need to be more careful when buying things on the net.
OldSchoolWrestling 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2003 If you use it to buy, you are actually protected for 30 days. So if you send money and don't get the item, file a formal complaint with paypal. The other person has to prove they shipped the item or you get your money back. Guest I'm That Damn Zzzzz Report post Posted October 18, 2003 If you really need to use PayPal, use a credit card and do NOT give them a debit card or a checking account information at all, they might drain it dry and you'll be Shit out of luck. Else, heed the warnings on those two sites.
