This week Duck Dodgers faces one of his biggest challenges yet, handling the responsibility of a Green Lantern ring! The Cartoon Network has provided THE PULSE with an image from the episode. See the sparks fly when Duck Dodgers meets Hal Jordan with Kevin Smith doing the voice of GL.

Reposted from a previous PULSE interview

"Daffy accidentally finds himself in possession of a legendary superheroes ring and becomes the new Green Lantern of Earth," said Paul Dini. "Doing a cameo voice over turn is CLERKS director Kevin Smith as everyone's favorite Green Lantern Hal Jordan."

Green Lantern is an interesting choice out of all the Earth's Mightiest Heroes ... especially since Hal Jordan hasn't been Green Lantern for a while. "There's only one Green Lantern," Dini commented when asked about the choice. "When Spike Brandt, Tony Cervone, Tom Minton and I were thinking up stories for the first season of DD, it dawned on us that it would be fun to have Dodgers mistakenly join a group of space-going heroes like the Jedi Knights or GL Corps. "Spike, Tony and I had already done an animation development on the Green Lantern Corps a few months before, so the models were already done. Though the characters were a bit more cartoony in design than those on JUSTICE LEAGUE or even TEEN TITANS, the tone of the show was going to be fun, straight-forward adventure, and we always regretted that the GL show did not move forward into full production. We pitched our DD/GL crossover story to Paul Levitz at DC who was very amused and gave us his thumbs up. We thought GL would be the natural one to team up with Dodgers as he's the hero that fits best into the futuristic space theme of Dodgers' series."

Working on Duck Dodgers are Spike Brandt and Tony Cervone as writers, supervising producers and directors, with Tom Minton and Dini as writers and producers. Duck Dodgers, like Flash Gordon or Buck Rogers, really doesn't have any super powers. So getting the power ring gives the hero an edge of sorts. "Dodgers doesn't really have any powers, except maybe super-ego, so having an all-powerful Green Lantern ring is certainly a boost for that," said Dini. "During the course of the adventure Dodgers meets up with just about everyone who has ever been a member of the Corps, so long-time GL fans will have a field day spotting characters like Killowog, Katma Tui, Tomar Re, etc."

As for what's next for the Looney Tunes hero, Dini said, "We'll see a lot more of Mars and of Marvin the Martian's life there. He still has his loyal hound K-9, and the bird-like Instant Martians, but there are new characters for him to interact with, such as an army of Martian Centurian Robots (all voiced by Star Trek's Michael Dorn) and a Cleopatra-like Martian Queen. Tia Carrere (Lilo & Stitch, Wayne's World) provides her sultry voice."

Guest Goodear

I tell you lads, I didn't exactly have high hopes for this series but the few times I've managed to catch it on Saturdays have been BRILLIANT. Just the interactions he had with Long John Silver XIII were great.

"Isn't that copywrited?"

"Yar, no it be public domain. I had me lawyers check it out."

And the space parasite eating contest was brilliant!
