HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2003 I figured I would start a thread pointing out simulators for those who are interested in them. Eastside Hockey Manager - Neat NHL Game with Minor League teams, Training, Pre-Season Games, etc. Pretty in-depth game and it's free. Go to F Hockey for up to date schedules & rosters. Guest Flyboy Report post Posted October 20, 2003 If only I could find a good copy of Football Mogul 2003.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted October 20, 2003 OOTP 5 is a very cool baseball sim. (see the General Chat thread) and if you don't feel like paying, OOTP 2 is floating around as freeware. It's only 3 years old and fun, you can actually act as manager during your team's games if you don't feel like simming everything.
Brush with Greatness 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2003 *Note: Don't move this to games. Every other thread there is about RPG's and no one talks about sports sims (apart from EWR)* Where to begin: Hockey: As Mentioned Eastside Hockey Manager is great and free. The designer of that actually took a job with SI Games (the makers of Championship Manager) and is working on EHM: Franchise Edition. Go to www.sigames.com for info. Baseball: OOTP is a good bet. Like someone mentioned 2 is floating around for free out there. I also played Baseball Mogul 2002 (or something) and it wasn't bad. Had the real players and shit. Football (American): Front Office Football. I'm not a big football fan but this game is totally awesome. I have 2001 and I think 2004 is coming out soon. If only I had the money. If anyone is a fan of owner mode in Madden but just enjoys simming the games you would love this game. One time the public in Chicago voted down my proposal to improve Soldier Field so I moved the team to Hartford. Yeah, I'm a bastard. I still play this game even though I got it almost 3 years ago. Basketball: Don't know any NBA ones but there are a few good college ones. To start with Tournament Dreams by www.411softwarestudios.com. Never played it but if it's anything like is precursor Coaching A Dynasty it is awesome. CAD is just a superb college basketball simulator and if I had the money TD would be a for sure buy for me as well. Football (Soccer): Championship Manager. Nuf said. There may be even some old free versions of it out there. Anyways another very cool one is called Sensible World of Soccer 97/98. You can actually play the game as well, but it's not FIFA graphics or anything just this cool overhead view. And the management part is really cool for those with little soccer knowledge. And for any of your freeware/abandonware needs make sure to check out www.the-underdogs.org which has many of the games I talked about and many other good sims that I have not tried out.
