New Ratings System

Recommended Posts

---This is a cut and paste of a post I made in GCF. We're *the mods* pretty much in agreement that this new system might mean a little more work, but should provide everyone with much better feedback. Please read over the new feedback policy and enter any questions here. We're going to start using it this week.

You do not have to add everything up or put everything in the format I put below. We will gladly tally up the scores. Just post your thoughts!

TWGRS

The World's Greatest Ratings System

Rating a show can be done on four factors.

1) Entertainment

2) Writing

3) Presentation

4) Realism

These measures should be non-biased. And shows could be show to have strengths. For example, iZ could be rated higher on Entertainment and Realism, whereas hD has better writing and presentation. Given these measures, it might be that there is an actual talent split. If broke things down, it would also help people choose which show they want to be on because it gives them more information about what is currently on the show.

Entertainment encapsulates how much you would enjoy watching the live event, and how the show itself brought you in. Did a particular joke or comment get you? Was one match really emotional?

Writing is fairly straightforward. Were things spelled right, was grammar correct and sentences structured well? Did each action flow into the next, and did things that happen make logical sense. How readable was it?

Presentation regards how the commentating, matches, and promo time are spread out throughout the show, how the show manages breaks and changes between segments, graphical quality, ending credits, and overall spacing/structure. Did you have to strain your eyes to see all that was happening, or did it just pop up from the screen. How were things marked?

Realism is a measure of how close the show would play out in real life. Were wrestlers selling injuries, or did they do too many high risk spots that really would've injured themselves? Did the show last about two hours in perceived time? Were the fans reacting in ways that you would've expected them too. Was it spotastic? Technical? Would the show be able to actually air without the FCC suing us? ::This implies we have timeslots, and I have always used Late Night for us in EWR

X-Factor Was this show better than the last week's show? Even? Worse.

How to score

Each of the 4 dimensions (not the x-factor) gets ranked on a scale of 1-5, with 1 being poor, 2 being weak, 3 being average, 4 being good, and 5 being amazingly awesome. 5's shouldn't really be given out unless something really does stand out. The X-Factor adds 1 point if the show was better, or subtracts 1 point if the show was worth.

Final Score is all four dimensions scored + the X-Factor, with the Strongest and Weakest dimensions following

IE.

Iz Last week (just an example)

E5, W3, P3, R2, X1/15/Entertainment, Realism

This applies to both IZ & hD! Whomever posts the shows, they should cut and paste the rating system for a couple of weeks in the feedback threads until people become more comfortable with the new system.
