well first off...It's either going two ways here...

That each men will fight for a shot at Lesnar if they DON'T do the SMD Survivor match

or it's just your basic Paul Heyman "I suck without Raven writing this shit so lets throw shit to the wall" booking

Just my $.02

I thought that the WWE was setting up a quick #1 contender match on Smackdown for a match agaist Lesnar at the Survivor Series. but now that seems to be up in the air according to the Torch.

Personally, the more Benoit vs Angle the better. They could wrestle every day and I'd never get tired of it. The Royal Rumble match perfectly set the stage for a high profile rematch and the last match on Smackdown showed Benoit and Angle still have lots of tricks left up their sleeves.

Anyone else have the feeling that they're doing this to give Benoit a rub by beating a recent WWE champion/main eventer (Angle) to build Benoit up for a match with Lesnar?

Just seems to me like a quick mini-feud to get people behind Benoit again after months of mid card jobbing.

Actually Benoit has pretty much been unbeaten for the last two months by whipping the hell out of Rhyno and A-Train. The stink of that period where he'd job to Sean O'Haire is just about washed clean.

Upon first glimpse of this last night, I immediately thought that Heyman's plan for Benoit/Angle was incomplete as he was suddenly dropped from the creative team. I figured that he might have gotten some creative back and wanted to finish it to bring Benoit up a little. I wouldn't look for this to last a long time, just bring Benoit up to ME like someone said, and put on a hell of a match. Don't look for any heel turns or anything. This might play a big part in the rumored SD Survivor match as well.

As long as they have an actual reason to fight and it's not just the writers going "Well...Benoit and Angle aren't doing anything this month", then I've got no problem with their feud.

I don't care what they feud over, I just want to see them wrestle.

I'm hoping that we get a great SD TV match this time, with the right to face Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series on the line.

Oh yeah.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't a feud have a point to it. Otherwise it's just two guys fighting over and over again.

I own roughly 10 PPV events and a couple of Smackdowns where they wrestle. Not including triple threats, tag matches or anything else. If I wanted to see them wrestle, I'd watch one of them. Mainly because about half of them HAVE a reason for happening, other than a 3 week 'I'm better than you, no you're not' feud.

It's just lazy booking to please us all. And the worst thing is, it happens every 4 months or so, yet everyone's oblivious to it. 'Oh, Angle/Benoit isn't doing anything at the moment...throw him with Benoit/Angle for a 3 week feud...that'll shut those whining smarks up for a while.'

However, as long as it's just a 'build up Benoit before he jobs to Lesnar' feud, then I'm not too bothered. But you just know the build up to the feud, or the excuse for the feud, will be pathetic.

I'd rather watch Benoit/Angle have an outstanding Pro. Wrestling match without ANY story to it, than to see half of the so-called "storylines that we have going on right now.

Of course I'd rather have the Benoit/Angle match have a feud to surround it and a backstory to follow, that adds a ton of emotion around it.

I just wont complain if they wrestle for no good reason other than to have a good match for me to enjoy.

Besides, they aren't going to really FEUD, this is all just about getting the spot against Lesnar, so you don't need a huge feud to go by here other than they BOTH want to have Lesnar at Survivor Series. Besides, they already have a history with one another, it isn't that hard to have them just get in the ring and have at it.

Benoit & Angle could feud forever, and I wouldn't care.

They haven't put on a bad match yet.

The Ultimate Submission match wasn't good.

2/3 falls wasn't too special either.

Also, I'm of the belief that if two Pro. Wrestlers are good enough at what they do, even if they have no storyline/feud or anything leading up to the match, if they are good enough, they can tell the story IN THE RING.

That's where the magic happens.

I'm very into Puroresu, and I don't know what the storyline is most of the time, and I enjoy the matches totally.

Still, a well thought out storyline does add to the match, I'm not disputing that. You don't HAVE to have that to make the match worth something though, that's all I'm saying.

Both of those were better than most other matches going on.

They were better than the awful Undertaker matches on the same cards, but I still wouldn't call them great.

I often think they get a free pass, just because it's Angle and Benoit.

Either that, or because their matches are usually the better matches of the night, especially when they are in there together.

well, he didn't say they were all good, he just said there have been no BAD matches. although i wouldn't call the ultimate submission match "good," you could also hardly say it was truly "bad."

I hope this is true.

If the rumor I heard about

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

Lesnar not even defending the title at SSeries and being involved in SD's 5 on 5 match.

Then that's kinda lame. But then again, I also heard if this the previous rumor is true that

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

Benoit / Lesnar is being held off until December for SD's "big" show for the month with Benoit most likely going over with the title

then I would forgive them. :D
