Remember he infected that guy and then jumped through the phone at the beginning of the movie. Spoiler (Highlight to Read): It's not so much that he can change forms, but it seems that he can hi-jack bodies in the same way that he does when he copies himself but retain their form in Zion Or something like that anyway...
