The first time Austin began to use the what was when there was an Alliance led promo to open Raw. Austin stood in the middle of the ring w/ a clipboard going over everyone's feuds and what not. He told RVD  he was proud of him, berated Raven, Saturn, and Morrus, and the punked out Tazz because Tazz made fun of him. The promo was at least 20 minutes and if I remember correctly served no point. But that was indeed the first time Austin began using what.

I was talking to someone and Suddenly they just kept replying with 'WHAT?'.

The final message they said consited of over a hundred 'What?'
