Recommended Posts

Norm: It is a generational thing. I’m 61 years ol- young. I say 61 years- I say 61 years experienced. And uhh when I watch Saturday Night Live- I watch the show and I don’t even know what they’re doing uhh parodies of cause they’re doing parodies of like of MTV shows that-

61!?!?!?!?

He was joking, right Bob?

Yes- He was joking.

Norm Macdonald was born on October 17th, 1963- making him 40 years old.

I think the CMAs really affected Hooper's ratings. Let's hope next week is better

The CMAs DID do their best ratings in 7 years and every show was down because of it.

Country music is very popular.

Sadly he's fucking right.

Where are these people at anyways? You never see anyone outside of Wal-Mart wearing a Toby Keith (fucking piece of shit redneck) or Garth Brooks(Country's Elvis) t shirt

You could just auto lock it like I do for OC to prevent any contact with 70's show.

But damn it! Sabrinia is a DAMN good show though...

Choices...Choices.

Ok. That wasn't much better.

But I know if I ever need a Quick 2500 There's a Town of idiots to go to.

I don't know-

She's not really needed. Ryan has two plotlines- living with Stan and his relationship with his dad. Yet both are being ignored in favour of Chelsea

A Minute with Stan Hooper:

Pete, Lou and Stan: Comedy Gold

It seems like we’ve found a found a footing for Stan Hooper in who is funny and who is not. The butler, whom Norm pushed on us in the pilot seems to be more in the background. And Pete and Lou seem to be the people that Norm plans on using the most.

The 3rd episode followed the theme of the 2nd and what will be the 4th episode. Stan does something and ends up riling up the hometown. Then we watch what happens. It’s formula but there’s a lot of things you could do with it. Considering that Stan has still just arrived in town- it makes sense that he would keep accidentally pissing off the townspeople.

I like how this episode focused on Pete and Lou- With Fred Willard not really being in much Pete has started to won me over. Daniel Roebuck just seems to put everything into his character. His facials are brilliant and his aw shucks attitude is perfect for his role. We also got a taste of Lou tonight and I found him to be quite funny as well. One thing that’s interesting about Stan Hooper is how Norm hasn’t really played up the fact that they’re gay at all- nor does anyone seem to mind. Aside from Cockburn he hasn’t really used it for a punchline at all.

The whole thing where Pete and Lou kept running up their debt to Stan reminded me of an episode of NewsRadio where because Matthew is the worst gambler in the world- he ends up owing Joe more and more money. The episode also paid homage to Cheers and Dirty Work- you KNOW I marked out.

I was surprised at the way the pool game turned out. The fact that they both sucked at pool was a nice deviation from the norm. The constant ways that Pete and Lou ran up their debt was funnier and funnier.

I know a lot of people are hating on Molly but I just can’t dislike her. She’s supposed to be like Eva Gabor from Green Acres. She’s the one who ends up adapting to small town life and not minding all the intricacies (except for the voting) and she’s just there as Stan’s conscious- the one who tries to help him make sense of it all. She’s not supposed to be funny- she’s just there.

Chelsea does need to die and fast. She adds nothing to the show and is holding Ryan down. Ryan has two easy plotlines to deal with that haven’t been explored. I am the only one who remembers that Ryan lives with Stan Hooper? I know they mentioned it for a brief second tonight but I just think that the issue of someone living in Stan’s house should be explored a bit more. Also- Ryan and Mr. Hawkins are still on the outs and again- they only explored it for a bit second. Maybe their saving plotlines for a rainy day but damn- let Ryan do something. And send Chelsea far far away.

The episode took a bit too long to build up tonight but once we got the main plot it was really good. Pete is awesome, Lou kept up with him and it’s amazing watching Norm slip so easily into the straight man role. The bare knuckle boxing scene was absolutely hilarious.

A good show tonight but the show needs some minor tweaking that’s holding it back from true greatness.

MARRRRRRRRK.

It was decent at best. Norm has yet to figure out his character and with the exception of Pete and Lou...Everyone else is just fucking annoying. Including Norm.

This show hasn't lived up the lofty expecations that You've given this show. Letting your obsession over Norm cast a blind eye to a show that's mediocre and isn't anything special.

The whole show STILL has this "It's been done before and it didn't work before" feeling and It isn't working so far.

Having a Trio of Annoying characters isn't good for a new show. Sometimes Annoying characters are good if that's the purpose but it's not here. The Butler, Wife and The Girl are supposed to be "Funny" or important to the show and yet they have irritated even the biggest blind mark for Norm there is, Imagine how that affected the normal masses. Well, those who didn't change the channel after the last two disapointing shows.

Norm Macdonald is my favourite comedian ever so of course I'm gonna be a bit biased.

I didn't have huge expectations like I did for Norm since I knew this was a risk for Norm. But the show is funny.

I like everyone but Chelsea and Ryan. The jury is still out on Ryan since he's done diddily squat since the pilot. I like the butler because he's used in small doses.

If the show wasn't funny- I wouldn't laugh. Norm's not perfect. The Jenny-Norm arc from Norm is exhibit A.

I think the show kicks ass and is only going to get better. They have a lot of work to do but it's so far so good.

The show has been done before- Everytime Norm talked about the plot of the show he said that they stole it from Green Acres. (Of course they also stole from Newhart) But I loved Green Acres so I'm not too upset.

The wife isn't supposed to be funny. The girl is supposed to be funny- she's not. The butler is supposed to be funny and he is. It's kind of weird that they made him into a major prick but I'm digging it.

I think the show is dying for two reasons-

1) The Norm fans tuned into this show expecting Dirty Work and Norm Show Norm. They got Stan Hooper.

2) The Norm haters aren't gonna give two shits about Norm to begin with and won't give the show a chance.

I know I'm a hardcore #1 Norm scary stalker fan- but the show is good

Tonight's show was probably the best one so far, but fuck, I hate almost everyone on that show. I can understand trying to make them 'simple' townsfolk, but there's simple and then there's fucking retarded. Everyone on the show is dumb, except for Stan and the Butler, and to a lesser degree the wife.

The first few minutes were funny, specifically Stan trying to get breakfast.

That's another HUGE logic gap that's reaching the levels of WWEville.

Why is EVERYONE retarded except for the butler and Ryan?

I've been to "simple" towns and NO ONE FUCKING person calls 2500, a nickel and two dimes.

No One takes 4 hours to play god damn pool.
