Guest FrigidSoul Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 from what I understand he's signing on to be the bench coach for Sweet Lou in Tampa Bay
sfaJack Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 from what I understand he's signing on to be the bench coach for Sweet Lou in Tampa Bay So? He never said he wanted to retire. He just said he was ready to be treated like a human being. What's the big deal?
OldSchoolWrestling Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 What's the beef with Steinbrenner? Does Steinbrenner hold meetings and blast the coaches, or was Zimmer tired of having to bring him a calzone every day for lunch?
Guest FrigidSoul Posted October 31, 2003 Report Posted October 31, 2003 Zimmer said Steinbrenner didn't treat him like a human being (or anybody else for that matter). I expected him to retire though as he was talking about spending time with the grandkids. I also got word of this before ESPN.com, go me! heh
kkktookmybabyaway Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 Heading to Tampa Bay pretty much tells me Zimmer IS going away...

Have you been eating a calzone George?" Sorry, I had to mark for the Sienfeld reference. Let the old guy be happy.
