Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Willie Randolph takes over as bench coach, Lee Mazzilli becomes the third base coach, and Luis Sojo is the new first base coach. Any other 80s NY legends the Yankees are missing? I didn't look at the ESPN link so if I say something that it already had in it, oh fucking well Randolph was made bench coach because he's being prep-ed to become the manager next season...or if the Yankees at anytime start to faulter (most likely any record lower than .575) by the ASB then Torre will get the boot and Randolph will take over prematurely. As for Lee right now he's the front runner for the O's managerial job with Eddie Murray being second. They told Grady Little thanks but no thanks after interviewing him. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted November 6, 2003 And Boone. Aaron Fucking Boone. ::mutters and storms out:: Yeah, that fucker. Hitting that home run in extra innings of game 7 to get you into the World Series. What a bastard. I repeat I don't give a shit about "getting there" He was a HUGE, HUGE reason why we were humiliated in six games once we got there.

He did GET the Yanks into the world series, but he was god awful in the world series. The errors and stranding all those runners on base helped their downfall. His striking out when all we needed was a flight out in game four (Leading to the worst pitcher on the team coming into the game and blowing it) is a chief cause of all this. You'd think with all of the talent the Yankees have, they would not have been in a situation against a club with about 1/3 of the payroll where they'd need a fly-out by Boone. Somehow, I doubt that was their ONLY opportunity to win that game. -=Mike

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2003 To wrap up the loose ends on the coaching front, the Yankees made Luis Sojo the third base coach, and have named Roy White as their first base coach. White is probably the most underrated Yankee in history.

NYU 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2003 http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1653418 Willie Randolph takes over as bench coach, Lee Mazzilli becomes the third base coach, and Luis Sojo is the new first base coach. Any other 80s NY legends the Yankees are missing? Darryl Strawberry is definitely a New York legend and.....wait, he wouldn't exactly be good for their image, would he? Darryl Strawberry was hired Nov. 13 as a player-development instructor. He will work with the Yankees at Legends Field during spring training and will remain in Tampa to work with young players in the club's player-development system. Strawberry, who spent parts of five seasons with the Yankees from 1995-1999, has battled drug problems and was treated for colon and stomach cancer. He recently served 11 months in a Gainesville, Florida correctional facility and was released on April 3, 2003. Credit: espn.com Ugh, it sickens me that I was actually right. Strawberry has been given SO many chances to drop his drug habit, but he keeps relapsing. I understand how hard it is to just give up drugs, but many people have done it without the incentives that Strawberry has had. He has let down his wife, his kids, and the Yankee organization - who just kept rehiring him and backing him up after all of his relapses. Now, he's back for another job. Even though there are many people who haven't gone to drugs or, if they have - have learned how to kick the habit, that don't have a job in baseball they may desperately want, Strawberry has been given ANOTHER chance. How soon until he's forced back into rehab or put into jail?
