Guest treble charged Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 I understand that they wanted to split the recaps of the two shows up, but couldn't they have found 10 minutes for "From the Vault"? That was about the only reason worth watching the show, and now, it's gone.
Guest FakeRazor Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 That sucks, its the only reason I ever tuned into Excess, dispite having most of the matches on tape. It would have been cool if they showed old RAW matches from like 1993, SNME matches, any other old school free TV matches, or dark matches instead of easily available PPV matches as the vault match.
Guest nWoScorpion Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 They lost me as a viewer sinc ei watch them two shows anyway and From the Vault is the only trhing decent.
Guest The Man in Blak Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 Well, I'm sure that all 117 of the people that actually watch Excess are crying in their sleep now.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 well i have NO reason to watch the show now! i liked the idea of from the vault and wish there was a show dedicated to past matches.
Guest JHawk Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 Somebody up at Titan Tower or whatever it's called now really needs to pay attention. You got rid of the one lone segment anybody bothered tuning in for? At least the show's named right. "Excess" as in "excess recaps of stuff most of you saw less than a week ago".
Guest Shaved Bear Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 why dont they can excess, and make an hour out of metal, which is a sd! show, and make a show that shows classic wwf, wont happen though
Guest Invader3k Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 The WWF won't do a "classic matches" TV show because that is something the fans actually want, and as we all know, the WWF is no longer about giving the fans what we really want.

Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 Metal sucks now too... Goodbye Excess.... There is now *officially* no reason to watch the Wwf... The Vault roold (Even though it basically became something to 'hype up' feuds rather than just giving fans a small treat...)
Guest evenflowDDT Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 The WWF won't do a "classic matches" TV show because that is something the fans actually want, and as we all know, the WWF is no longer about giving the fans what we really want. Correction, that's what Smarks want. Casual fans could care less about "classic matches" unless they involved big names (e.g. if the WWF issued a new Hogan compilation tape now its sales would go through the roof). Example (a kind of old one, but it fits nonetheless): does the average WWF fan know the true "Living Legend" is Larry Zybysko? Does the average WWF fan care? Doubt it. Does the average WWF fan care about "classic matches"? Doubt it... their idea of a classic match TV show is a re-cap of the Wrestlemania X-7 main event .
Guest Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 actually... Damn Excess was given 2 hours, they should have made it to a Actual wrestling show to begin with, recaps should be left for hour shows or half hour rather. Make Excess into the Smackdown Follow up. But no just have the Coach and Terri there mull over crap they seen a few days ago, and have guests who don't remember to be in character when the camera's rolling like the first segment with Jazz. and I agree with everyone the Vault segment is the best thing 0n that piece o crap show. Reminds people there WAS WWF Before Austin beat Shawn Michaels at WM 14 when most fans now a days started watching Wrassling.
Guest RickyB Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 Do you think they might have canned From The Vault because of the rumoured 24 hour Wrestling channel and because they might be releasing WCW tapes?? I guess I can hope. I remember the first time I accidently tuned into Excess and there was the ladder match between Chris Benoit and Jeff Jarret from Starrcade 99 (i've got it on tape anyway, but...) and I thought "YES!! A classic Wrestling show!" (we have WWF classics anyway over here, but it's just old episodes of WWF Wrestling Challange). Then after the match it showed Trish and Coach in the studio talking about what happened this week on Raw and I just switched over to the other side. They have Metal, Heat and Jakked to go back over what happened on Raw & Smackdown - they don't need to use Excess.
Guest Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 WWF will never make a True "Classic Wrestling show" or a "Classic Wrestling Channel." They want us to buy the video's from them or buy some lame ass Fanatic series type PPV to see them.
Guest Karnage Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 If Vince could have it his way, he'd have weekly Pay Per Views.
Guest WWF4Life Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 Yeah, but the thing is, a lot of fans would probably pay an annual subscription for a 24 hour wrestling channel. I know I would. Oh well, it's a nice fantasy.
Guest HartFan86 Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 Well, I won't be watching Excess much anymore.
Guest Brian Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 Once St. Louis gets UPN, which is the only real major market that doesn't have it, turn half of Excess into a cruiserweight show and the other half into a developmental stage, where there's a feeling that wrestlers re being evaluated and Vince and Flair are competing to sign them.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 They really, really need to make Excess a show with a lot of jobber matches, to show off certain talent and give the developmental guys a taste of the bigtime as the jobbers. Then there could be two or three main events with midcarders at the end of the two hour show.
Guest JMTapes Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 I would love a show with jobber matches. They make Raw seem more meaningful, and make you excited to see two actual superstars wrestling. -Jim www.jmtapes.com
Guest El Satanico Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 Hell Excess doesn't get ratings now so WWF wouldn't be risking anything if they tried something different. Send a camera to OVW and HWA and televise those. The show couldn't get much lower ratings then it does currently. Or do half of the show with OVW/HWA footage and the other half use taped dark matches with the cruisers and recaps of the two main shows. That should please the small group that watches it now and may get more fans of wrestling to tune in.
Guest Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 If they really wanted us to feel like the company has split, make the first hour be OVW( Smackdown's Minor Leuge) and the 2nd hour HWA(Raw's Minor Leauge). Each hour would have commentators putting over the wrestlers and being all like "Ric Flair is thinking about bringing this youn star up"
