Guest FrigidSoul Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 Am I wrong or wasn't this movie just at the theaters like 3months ago? Did it flop that bad?
Guest Jamal Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 It premiered in the US on June 30th. That's over 4 months ago.
Guest Ram Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 It opened July 4th, and its cummulative box office intake was 149.89 million dollars. Very much the opposite of a flop. http://www.boxofficeprophets.com/top20/
NoCalMike Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 I will be picking it up. It was my fav Summer blockbuster action balls to the wall flick this year. And a lot better then I thought it would be considering Claire Danes of all people was casted in it.
Guest El Satanico Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 It wasn't a flop, but it wasn't the huge hit at the box office people were expecting. I personally disliked it. It just didn't hold my interest. After a few minutes the action scenes usually turned into a blur of explosions and became boring. There wasn't enough of a story for me to like it. To me, Pirates of The Carribean was a much more enjoyable "mindless action movie".
LaParkaYourCar Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 I'm think Pirates of the Carribean comes out on DVD December 2nd.
Lil' Bitch Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 God damn movies are coming out on VHS / DVD fast these days.
Slayer Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 God damn movies are coming out on VHS / DVD fast these days. Is that such a bad thing? I remember when the original Batman took literally a year to come out on video. And I'm sure this is where the older people will chime in to talk about how long they had to wait for movies to come out
Lil' Bitch Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 Its not a bad thing. I'm just surprised nowadays. Should I even bother going to the theatre anymore though?
Guest El Satanico Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 DVD's on average come out 3-4 months after the theater release. It's only worth going to the theater if it's for a movie you've been looking forward to and really want to see.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted November 8, 2003 Report Posted November 8, 2003 I would just think that they would make more money holding off the release to DVD/VHS awhile longer. Anyways I'll wait until the whole Terminator series gets placed into box set form.
Guest El Satanico Posted November 8, 2003 Report Posted November 8, 2003 Most movies only make good money at theaters for two months at most. So DVDs being out in 3-4 months later, doesn't really hurt them. Besides, the DVD market is just as important as theater runs now. It's not like back in VHS days.
