The Newz

Anyone remember a syndicated 30 min skit show called The Newz, it was a daily (I think) show that was shown here in Green Bay at the same time as the real 10 pm news.

Also how about She TV, ABC's short run prime time skit show that bombed in the ratings

I remember both shows rather well. I actually liked The Newz better than SNL (then again, The Newz was on the air during the lame 1994-95 season, so you can understand why I liked The Newz better). It used to air in New York every Monday-Saturday at 11:30 on what is now UPN. I remember thinking that one of the castmembers was The Undertaker without his makeup (he had long hair and a goatee hence my assumption). I hardly remember any of the sketches except for one where these girls dressed like Elvis Presley to escape their dates and another in which a man sunbathed so much that he turned into an African-American. I also had a crush on one of the women on the show (I forget her name).

I think it aired from October 1994-March 1995. I still remember the theme song. It was pretty catchy. The show just disappeared from the air. I was sad that it ended. I looked forward to watching it every weekday especially Friday nights. "It's The Newz. Starring Shawn Alex Thompson!"

She TV I also remember watching. That was the one where the cast were all women. I think Joel Hodgson from Mystery Science Theater 3000 was one of the writers on the show (or was that the Paula Poundstone Show). I remember a sketch in which they parodied NYPD: Blue and another where a woman imitidated Fabio. That's all I remember. The only other memory I have of the show is reading the newspaper and finding out it was cancelled.

She TV had a skit where they were all Barbies, and one flashed a fake tit at the audience and scremed "SOMEONE PUT MAGIC MARKER ON MY NIPPLE"

My Ma shut it off after that....

I remember the Newz. I remember 2 skits, the clintstones (Clintons as Flintstones) and a skit with Bill Clinton and Janet Reno where they played the Low rider song except with different words. I don't remember She tv. Anyone watch House of Buggin or the Dana Carvey Show?

House of Buggin' I remember also. Poor John Leguiazamo(sp?). That show went through one hiatus too many. It was on the air from December 1994-January 1995, then went on a break and came back in March 1995, THEN went on ANOTHER break and came back in July 1995 before being cancelled after 2 weeks in July 1995. I remember every show would begin with him dancing then coming out to introduce the show.

I remember some skits that had me laughing out loud. There was one in which he was a perverted priest....who hit on adult women including the Virgin Mary who appeared to him. There was also a recurring character he had on the show that was Japaneese and was the host of a latenight show but had horrible guests.

My favorite skit from the show was when he played the lost member of the Village People, the Knight in Shining Armor. And a monologue from the show in which the annoucer kept misprouncing his last night. And another where an annoucer tried to translate what he was saying.

I feel bad that his show was cancelled as I think John Leguazamo is funny. Oh well. Atleast he is still doing work and has had 2 HBO Comedy Specials which were VERY funny, IMHO. And the star of Carlos from FOX was on that show also.
