Question on the guy who stands on the sword

They say that they didn't use any CGI effects for the fighting in Kill Bill, but what about the guy who jumps on the sword(which will be seen in Volume 2)? Did they use wires, or is he so awesome, tha they didn't need wires?

Unless I'm mistaken, they used wires and erased them digitally later.
