eiker_ir 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2003 “TOOLBOX” PRODUCER JOINS “THE LAST HORROR PICTURE SHOW” Tony DiDio, the producer coming off Tobe Hooper’s recent remake of THE TOOLBOX MURDERS, has joined forces with Jeff Miller and Gary Jones to produce THE LAST HORROR PICTURE SHOW. The movie will star Robert Englund (“Freddy” from the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET series), Kane Hodder (“Jason” from the FRIDAY THE 13TH series), and Gunnar Hansen (“Leatherface” from the original TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE). It concerns a group of would-be filmmakers out to see the locations where their favorite horror movie was shot who encounter three demented characters with plans of their own. It will mark the first time these three “titans of terror” have appeared in a movie together. “I was looking for another project as exciting as TOOLBOX, and I am pleased that I have found it with THE LAST HORROR PICTURE SHOW,” says DiDio. “It’s gonna be one helluva horror movie.” DiDio, who also produced the original TOOLBOX MURDERS, an independent hit in 1978, has 30 years of experience in the motion picture industry. He raised financing for such films as ANDY WARHOL’S FRANKENSTEIN and DRACULA (both 1974) as well as THE DEVIL’S RAIN (1975), and he produced the recent films THE DEMON WITHIN, KILLER INSTINCT, and HEART OF STONE. “It’s great to have someone of Tony’s caliber and expertise come on board,” says Miller. “Gary (Jones) and I visited the set of TOOLBOX MURDERS and were impressed with Tony’s passion and know-how.” Kinetic Filmworks, a film finance and production company Miller founded earlier this year with Jones, decided to make THE LAST HORROR PICTURE SHOW its first project. Kinetic will now be producing the film in association with DiDio. Jones (MOSQUITO, SPIDERS) is directing the film from a screenplay he wrote with Hansen. Because of actors’ availability, shooting for THE LAST HORROR PICTURE SHOW has been rescheduled to early 2004, for a mid-2004 release. this sounds like a fun movie, i hope it's good
Guest Just J Report post Posted November 12, 2003 I don't know about this one. Are they going to be the "would-be filmmakers " or the "three demented characters"? I didn't know that TCM was distributed by the same production company.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 12, 2003 The three of them will be the psychos of course. Where did you get that this is the same production company of TCM? The article didn't say that.
Guest Just J Report post Posted November 12, 2003 The three of them will be the psychos of course. Well then will they be from their respected series or will it be something made up for the movie?
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 12, 2003 No, they aren't playing the characters they are famous for. That would be impossible for a Indie film company to do. Englund is "The Janitor" Hodder is "Redd" Hansen is "Babe"
Guest Just J Report post Posted November 12, 2003 It sounds a little fishy to me, but I will still check it out.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 12, 2003 There's really nothing fishy about. They will play three guys terrorizing a group of would be filmmakers. In case you're thinking of a theater release. It's a Indie film and will most likely be direct to DVD.

But I don't know if it'll be the "underground" hit they're hoping for.

eiker_ir 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2003 of course he can didn't you see the masterpiece that is "Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers"? duh
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 12, 2003 Hodder and Hansen are credited with a good number of acting gigs, so they must be capable actors. Besides, Englund will probably do the majority of the acting, while Hodder and Hansen do the "crazed hillbilly" roles.
Guest Urine Sane Report post Posted November 12, 2003 Hodder He's mostly done just Friday the 13th and stuntman work on other films, not a real good actor from what I've seen, but better then a monkey with a whistle (well, maybe not).
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 12, 2003 Hodder He's mostly done just Friday the 13th and stuntman work on other films, not a real good actor from what I've seen, but better then a monkey with a whistle (well, maybe not). Actually Hodder has been in quite a few movies other than Friday the 13th. However, they seem to be mainly background roles like "thug", "biker" and "guard". In fact he's only had 4 non-Jason roles where he's had an actual name. Like I said Hodder and Hansen don't really need to be great actors in this. Think of an 80's big man tag team with their manager, with Englund playing the manager.
Guest The Midnight Rocking Warrior Report post Posted November 15, 2003 This kind of reminds me of wishmaster...... think about it, the movie had: Robert Englund ( Best horror actor ever, if you don't like NoES watch the mangler, the only single movie Englund's ever won an award for, which was a fantafestival best actor.) Tony Todd ( Greatest African american horror actor ever) Kane Hodder ( The most well-known Jason) And was narrated by The tall man from Phantasm. ( I've never seen wishmaster, is it any good?) Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 15, 2003 Yeah, the first Wishmaster wasn't bad. But the guys you mentioned have small roles.
