Guest Boo_Bradley Report post Posted November 14, 2003 I'd like a summary of Tiger mask's career, I hear all the talk of him being a trend setting wrestler, but the only match I've seen him in was a short one w/ Flair. When did make it big, and how did he spawn Tiger Mask 2-4. When did he retire? Top fueds other than TNT Kid? thanx in advance!

Guest Dynamic A Report post Posted November 19, 2003 I'd like a summary of Tiger mask's career, I hear all the talk of him being a trend setting wrestler, but the only match I've seen him in was a short one w/ Flair. That was Misawa under the hood against Flair, not Sayama (the original Tiger Mask). -DA

Ace309 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2003 There wasn't, I don't believe, a storyline to explain why there were more Tiger Masks. It was just a popular gimmick and it made sense to give the mask to a new worker. Tiger Mask was Sayama, II was Misawa, III was Koji Kanemoto, and I don't believe IV's identity has been revealed yet. Downhome 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2003 Doesn't Sayama have to "approve" those who take on the gimmick?
Guest krazykat72 Report post Posted November 19, 2003 No, Sayama does not have approval. After he abruptly retired in 1984, the gimmick was sold from New to All Japan, and the decision was made to put Misawa under the mask. -Paul Jacobi-
Downhome 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2003 That's odd, someone told me a few years ago that not only does Sayama approve each of them, but he helped train most of them also. Whatever.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted November 19, 2003 That's odd, someone told me a few years ago that not only does Sayama approve each of them, but he helped train most of them also. Whatever. I remember hearing the same thing.
Guest JebusNassedar Report post Posted November 19, 2003 Well, it's a mixture of both stories, really. The only actually approved-by-Sayama Tiger Mask is IV. He was trained by Sayama, and was supported quite vocally by him. So, there has been one trained Tiger Mask successor. EDIT: Which perfectly explains my Tiger King/IV Vs. Tiger Masks II/III match, now that I think about it.
Guest ligerbomb03 Report post Posted November 19, 2003 And Sayama goes by Mask of Tiger right now.

Guest krazykat72 Report post Posted November 20, 2003 Sayama recently wrestled Great Sasuke and worked an All Japan show recently, sadly, he was said to look old and fat, but that he still busted out lots of his moves. -Paul Jacobi-
Downhome 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2003 Well I'd still like to see it, I'd get a kick out of that. He's one of my top favorite workers of all time.
